- This is NOT your father's country!
If you find a copy of this now out of print CD, grab it!
It is a sleeper unfortunately overlooked because of either the novelty of being a country album or because of the term itself scares people away? Don't be scared! This is not your father's country as Tina belts out classics with all new arrangements Tina style that hardly resembles country at all.
Not to be confused with the 1973 album which was a joke, this version was done in 1999 after she was on her own as a international star with large orchestrations by studio musicians... which too are amazing. The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5-stars is that there are only 9 songs with 3 music mixes of the same unaltered songs.
If you must overlook something about this album, let it be the title for you owe it to yourself to purchase a copy for your Tina collection. You won't regret it!

- Unbelievable "Soul Country"
Seems almost like a punch line to a joke -Tina sings country- but man, it's really good. I bought it on a lark because it's cheap and an odd concept and i like her voice, so...what the heck. And i really like this recording. It is a hodgepodge of styles eras but Tina's unique voice shines through. Sometimes her singing prowess is forgotten, she can sing. The recording is similar to Ray Charles singing country or if Ozzy Osbourne did a record of Irish folk songs- the voice just sticks out. Its a little unusual and unique, but really cool and listenable. And only five bucks. So, why not...Try it...You'll like it.
- poor quality
I am a big Tina Turner fan but the quality of this cd was poor. The songs were good but the sound of the recording was not.
