- INCREDIBLE VOCAL PERFORMANCE
This concert was filmed in London, England last year(1999)...and the much edited version was featured on VH1 earlier this year(2000). This DVD is uncut and fantastic. Tina delivers her best live vocal performance in years with the help of the Royal Symphony Orchestra, a rocking band, backing vocalist and dancers, and the London Community Gospel Choir. Watching this Rock icon rip through each song is breathtaking. The emphashis of this live concert is not on production...or choreograpy; but on her powerful unique voice and the music that backs it. She showcases some of her biggest hits incuding "whats love got to do with it" and "the best". Highlights however are from her latest CD "twenty four seven" including a soulful performance of "dont leave me this way", and the gospel drenched "whatever you need" and "talk to my heart". Turner also delivers a stunning performance of her now classic "lets stay together" seated on a stool tina soulfully croons this tune. Also included is a Bryan Adams duet, interview clips of Tina herself, and dedications from such celeberties as Oprah, Mariah Carey, Ricky Martain, Paul McCartney, David Bowie and Cher to name a few. The theme of this stunning concert is Tina's birthday...in which she had just turned 60..and with the aide of Bryan Adams the audience sings "happy birthday" to Tina. This concert is not be any means what we are use to seeing from Tina you wont see moving stage pieces...explosions...or flickering lighting, nor will u see a stadium sized audience. Instead and rightfully you will see a small but enthussed audience of about 200..and intimate lighting to make this a moving and intimate evening. Tina gives us her absolute best vocal performance that you wont hear on her prevoius DVD's "live in amsterdam" "rio 88". Whether your a Tina fan, rock fan, or an all out music fan..you wont want to miss this DVD by one of Rock and Rolls true living Legends. "CELEBRATE" her, her music and her milestone birthday again and again with this DVD.

- Tina's Great, This DVD Isn't
This DVD features some kind words about Tina from other celebrities, along with a few good interview clips of Tina herself, but the musical performances are poorly produced and do not adequately showcase Miss Turner's amazing stage presence. While she is perfectly at home in the smaller venue, the audio is spotty at times and her vocals seem overpowered by the band. To really see Tina in action, check out the Wildest Dreams Live in Amsterdam DVD -- much greater bang for the buck.

- A Real Birthday Celebration!
This amazing birthday tribute knocked my socks off. Tina performs in a London venue that resembles 'Thunderdome' with her center stage and encompassed by fans 360 degrees on five levels. Although Tina only performs fifteen songs (in concert), there are plenty of clips dating back to the early sixties when she was with Ike Turner. One might think this would be an annoying distraction, but it proves illuminating. Her former 'Ike-ette' singer, PP Arnold comments frequently on their history and there are dozens of other singers that comment about working with Tina. Most notably are remarks by Rod Stewart, Paul McCartney, Cher, Mariah Carey, Sting, Al Green, Keith Richards, Bono and plenty of others (what is Oprah doing here?) Great duet clips are included such as with Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger and Cher. Tina also comments throughout on her own amazing history. The only low points are the two songs Tina sings with Bryan Adams - they just don't do her justice. The band is cracker with a plenty of strings and a huge horn section to bring out the organic feeling of the concert. The DTS Surround Sound is phenomenal! This truly is a Birthday celebration not to be missed. At age 60, Tina's still got it.

- Higher standard than other Tina concert DVD's
This is the Tina concert DVD to purchase over her others. While it may not be a true concert in terms of performing in a huge stadium, it should not deter you. It is still a concert despite the smaller venue and crowd. What makes it so special is that her voice is in top condition at this concert - whereas, her voice was disappointing on her other concert DVDs (too much screaming!).
CELEBRATE is a concert to 'celebrate' Tina's 60th birthday in Nov 1999. And indeed it is a true celebration. Not only do you find Tina's voice at its best, you also get incredible archival footage from the early days, woven in between the songs. For example, rare footage of her singing "River Deep" in 1966 - a treat for a fan like me! Also included are 'birthday wishes' from stars such as Cher, Sting, Keith Richards, Bono, Paul McCartney and Bryan Adams.
The archival footage is pure gold, and is the main reason I bought the DVD. Just a pity there wasn't more of it! As for the concert, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was pure gold too, after being somewhat disappointed with her other concert DVDs (as mentioned earlier).
This DVD is definitely worth purchasing, and one I will watch again and again. All we need now is "The Girl from Nutbush" to be released on DVD (the ultimate documentary on Tina).
