- Another overlooked goodie

I remember being extremely surprised that this single existed; after the ridiculous commercial flop of their excellent single "Come Inside" (which was a smash hit in UK clubs as a white label record, a flop once it had the name Thompson Twins attached to it), they followed it up with "Groove On", which also got no attention.

"Play With Me (Jane)" is some kind of weird hybrid. It's actually a track from the album "Queer" titled "Strange Jane", but a dub version of the track was included on the soundtrack for the 1992 film "Cool World". That track got a lot of attention, which may have helped push the release of this as a single. Unfortunately, they forgot to include the "Cool World" version, and none of the other mixes sound remotely like it. I noticed one other bitter reviewer who felt ripped off by that, and I never really saw it that way; I am a big fan of the album "Queer" and I already knew the Cool World track was "Strange Jane".

In any case, none of the mixes here are really extraordinary, but I was thrilled that at least some of the mixes contained full vocals. It was an interesting experiment, one that failed to generate commercial interest. After this, Tom & Alannah abandoned the Thompson Twins moniker and started a "new project" called Babble (think the Thompson Twins smoking marijuana and you get the idea of Babble).

- This CD doesn't have the one song I wanted--

Whatever happened to singles actually containing the song they claim to contain? This CD has 8 TRACKS--4 versions of two songs, none of which are the one from the movie "Cool World." You'd think that by advertising it as a single it would in fact be a single, but it isn't.
