- Great Compilation! But...........

This is one of the best compilations of the Jackson 5 you will find on the market at this time. The remastering job of these 30 plus year old tracks is astounding! However of all these hits there are two main top charters that were left out. Got To Be There and Where You Are. Big mistake. These two tracks should have been added or they should have replaced two of the less popular ones. Great buy for old school Jackson 5 fans.

- Memory Lane with the Jackson Five

I remember many of the songs included on this CD. Although it does not include ALL of the best/most popular recordings of Michael when he sang with his brothers, it includes the majority. This compilation is much closer to a complete anthology than any of the other CDs I saw listed by Amazon.

- The spellbinding, infectious and electric sounds of The Jackson 5 !!!

I've been a fan of The Jackson 5 for many years now; and I feel saddened by the news of Michael's untimely passing. The two CD set offers us nothing but outstanding music from The Jackson 5 and it's practically a must-have for their fans. The quality of the sound on the two CDs is excellent and I like the artwork as well.

The first CD starts with a most energetic tune entitled "I Want You Back;" this features Michael up front singing as only he could but of course The Jackson 5 as a group do this one to perfection--it's a great way to begin this two CD retrospective. "ABC" was another of their very early hits; they play and sing this so very well--talk about catchy and infectiously upbeat! Michael does his solo vocals faultlessly and the beat is excellent for dancing even in our times. "The Young Folks" is another good tune; and I really like "The Love You Save." "The Love You Save" has Michael singing his heart out and The Jackson 5 make this a really electric number. I love it! Of course, "I'll Be There" is another major hit for The Jackson 5; they deliver this without letting go of a single superfluous note and that's grand. "I'll Be There" also sports a lush musical arrangement that perfectly complements their singing. "Goin' Back to Indiana" is quite strong; and they handle "Never Can Say Goodbye" with panache. In particular, Michael sings with a genius of someone far beyond his years; his was a natural talent that I rarely hear or enjoy. "I'm So Happy" just plain sounds good--what a song! "Doctor My Eyes" is not too shabby, either.

Listen for The Jackson 5 to outdo even themselves on "Corner of the Sky" which is the first song on the second CD; and "Touch" is certainly easy on the ear. "Hallelujah Day" has a terrific sound I always love to hear and the organ works wonders on "Daddy's Home." "Mama I Gotta Brand New Thing (Don't Say No)" uses the drums and percussion to great advantage. "Dancing Machine" is one of my very favorite Jackson 5 tunes ever; this music lacks nothing--it's all THAT good. The beat is perfect; their singing is perfect and they never miss a beat on "Dancing Machine." I'm amazed! "Whatever You Got, I Want" has a really great beat; and when Michael's up front the rest of the group backs him up admirably. "All I Do Is Think of You" gets a very sensitive treatment from The Jackson 5; "All I Do Is Think of You" is a major highlight of the second CD. "Forever Came Today" is awesome music; and the second CD ends nicely with The Jackson 5 performing "We're Here to Entertain You." "We're Here to Entertain You" is sensitive and sweet; the music is just right and it stuns me with its beauty.

The Jackson 5 gave us so many great songs that they will never be forgotten. They could have included "Got to be There" in this set but otherwise everything we get is nothing but first rate music. Sadly, Michael has just left us; but he's in a better place and he left us so much music, too. This is a wonderful two CD set for fans of The Jackson 5; and Michael's fans may also want to add this to their collections.

- 3 for the music 0 for the package

This set is EXACTLY the same as 2000's Anthology which was itself a condensed version of the boxed set Soulsation.

No quibble with repackaging the music and rereleasing it.

It's just that this exact set exists in at least 10 other configurations. How about releasing the J5 Live in Japan, or Jermaine, Jackie and Michael's solo albums domestically. What a way to respect the J5 legacy.

- Decent but not great....

I've bought several compilations of The Jackson 5 over the years. This one is squarely in the middle of the pack. Production values are decent but the remastering is un-even at best. Some of the tracks sound thin and wonky (not a very technical term I know) but there's some nuggets on here I've been looking for "I Am Love" has eluded me for decades on CD but I have it now and for that reason alone this compilation is worth it. There are some tracks on here I'd have happily skipped like "The Young Folks" and others I wish were included like "Born To Love You", "You've Changed" and "Do You Remember", all cover's I know but GREAT covers and far superior to "Doctor My Eyes" (much as I love Jackson Browne they do him no service here). All in all though I enjoyed some of the memories on here and recommend it.
