Disco de The Four Seasons: “Ain't That a Shame & 11 Other Hits: Original Class”
 Descripción (en inglés) :
The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, Nick Massi.
<p>The Season's second album of 1963 (Ah, for the days when bands had a work ethic) is typical of its time--pre-Beatles--in that it's based around a recent hit or two, with the rest being more or less filler; in this case it's a mixture of originals by genius producer/songwriter Bob Crewe and '50s doo-wop tunes on which the group had cut their teeth. The group's singing, however, is glorious throughout, and the album's hit singles--particularly the definitive cover version of Maurice Williams' "Stay," the proto-bubblegum psychedelia of "Candy Girl" and the genuinely sublime "Marlena," with its unforgettable "roopie-doopie doop" chorus --are innovative reworkings of the East Coast harmony vocal style, as well as important steps along the road toward the pure-pop ear candy the Seasons and Crewe would soon pursue in earnest.

- This is worth a listen--it is classic 4 Seasons!
This was the fourth album by the 4 Seasons in what was a magnificent year of hit songs--it was the last of their early era (VeeJay label)--after this they exploded with some of their best stuff on the Phillips label (Dawn, Rag Doll, Lets Hang On) as they were only one of two American groups who had success during the British Invasion.
This album has some of their best early R&B renditions--the harmonies are tight and Frankie Valli's interpretations ideal.
There were actually a several songs that charted from this record. "Aint that a Shame" was of course a hit, but "Candy Girl/Marlena" was a major double sided hit, New Mexican Rose was popular on the West Coast as well as in the East--and Long Lonely Nights received considerable airplay. This is a wonderful R&B, Rock and Roll album and worth a listen if you enjoy the unique sound that was and is the Four Seasons.

- A Bit Lacking
I would strongly urge anyone who is considering purchasing a package with the more notable Four Seasons hits on it, to avoid this Curb material, and try to go with Rhino or WB.....the sound quality is decidely better with those packages.

- Ain't That A Shame - 4 Seasons
This re-issue dates from the Group's Vee-Jay days. The sound quality is excellent and the packaging has been greatly enhanced by using the artwork from the original album. A first rate package at a bargain price.

- What Can I SAY!
The 4 Seasons are one of the greatest groups of all time. I bought this cd for one song only but I liked the rest of the songs anyway. This is one of their 1st albums turned into a cd. I recommend it,
