Disco de The Four Seasons: “Four Seasons Collector's Edition”

I can remember the first time I heard Sherry blast out from my car radio in 1962. Who are THESE guys? What ELSE can they sing? It wasn't long before the whole world found out that THE FOUR SEASONS, with the amazing voice of Frankie Valli as lead singer, were destined to become one of the greatest groups in American music history! As my friends and family would attest, I became the THE biggest Four Seasons fan they knew. With the release of this 3 set CD, The Four Seasons Collectors Edition, more of their great recordings are now available on cd! Check out their remakes of "Sincerely","Since I Don't Have You","Goodnight My Love" and "The Book of Love". Frankie's great voice really shows here!

They make those songs THEIR OWN!! Also included in this set is "Who Loves You", "December 1963(Oh What a Night)", "Walk Like a Man", all Four Seasons classics!! The Four Seasons knew how to tell the story of teenage love, heartbreak and rebellion! And Frankie Valli's voice really brought it to your attention!!! Increadable!!

Hmm. Interesting set. Funny that the latest recordings are on the 1st disc, the earliest on the 2nd, and the "middle" ones (or most of them; there are remixes/edits of a couple of them on the 1st disc) on the 3rd! There are some good tracks here, a few hits, but most of them aren't among the Seasons' best. Most of their best stuff was recorded during the '60s, and strangely, this set barely covers that period --- in fact, it doesn't really "cover" it at all, as all of the '60s recordings here are from the early '60s, and most of the big hits even from that period are missing! (Can you believe that "Sherry," the group's first single as well as their first #1, has been excluded?!) Actually, this set seems to be an unusual "reissue" of two of the group's albums (one of their first ones and one of their later ones) and a comparatively more recent compilation disc. The songs on the second CD (the '60s recordings) made up the Big Girls Don't Cry album (from '63), and include the title hit and "Walk Like A Man" (both also #1s), and some other good, but mostly not very good songs. The third CD is really the Who Loves You album (from '75), which is good but not great in my opinion, despite the fact that "December 1963" and the title hit are on it. The first CD is the Oh What A Night comp from '95, which somewhat oddly consitsts mainly of edits and remixes of songs from the Who Loves You and Hope & Glory (from '92) albums. I think "Fly Like An Eagle" a.k.a. "State Of My Heart" is the best track on this disc. I would say, don't bother with this set, at least if what you're looking for is the Seasons' best material, because as a hits/best-of set, it doesn't cut it.

The one album all Four Seasons fans should have in there collection from one of the best groups' ever in the world of music..and at age 78yrs still Rocking and Rolling..a true King of R & R...performing over 50yrs..

This "SET" is just plain horrible !!

Buy ANY of the Rhino releases instead.
