- 2 Late

2 Late and Love Song should have been switched. Throughout the two minutes 38 seconds which is 2 Late, you get lost in the undercurrent of the constant four chord progession and the two (three?) guitars... and Mr. Smith's dreamy voice one octave lower than usual. 2 Late is my second favorite next to Disintegration (the song).

- Knocks You Flat!

In 1989 there was a box set of four extended CD singles released by The Cure. Here we have two versions of: "Love Song" (remixed & extended remix) with two more tracks that weren't found on the "Disintegration" album just released prior.

"Love Song" a tune that already sounded nice of the album, now has been mixed to bring up the bass and drums adding more punch and bite to achieve a more crystal clear sound to an already great song. This is The Cure in the daytime as it's all bright and upfront and new life is found here in this version.

"Love Song" (extended) adds almost three more minutes of music to the first version with an extended introduction prior to the first verse and a few effects as echo on Robert Smith's vocals and a long play-out with many new accents added into the music and at 6 minutes 18 seconds it's still over too soon as the music seems to want to keep on soaring. Again, the sound is fantastic on this remix.

"2 Late" is a brisk romp that speeds from start to finish. This song wasn't found on: "Disintegration" but it should have been as it's one of The Cure's best songs. A real nice find this one is!

"Fear Of Ghosts" is not quite as spooky as it's title but, this six minute plus mood-piece is pure Cure as the beat leads the way to the guitars that peek in and out of darkness. Robert, brings in some vocals that speak to the mists as it's very cryptic and not of this world. Don't play this one at naptime at the local daycare center as the kiddies heads will start spinning around if they hear any of this.

A wonderful twenty minute sampler of The Cure's best music.

Four & 1/2 Stars!

- Worth it for 2Late (of course)

Apologies, but ill guess ill have to be boring by echoing exactly what the other reviewers have written- and that is that 2late is undeniable great! Robert Smith gets my vote for the best songwriter who can turn dreams into heavenly tunes. I haven't heard every cure song..so i cant consider myself an obsessive fan, but that song for the moment remains my favourite.

- 2 Late is the best Cure track ever

I bought this CD on the basis of reasing the lyrics to the sone and absolutley falling in love with a song I had never even heard! I know it's pathetic, but I love it so much I have the lyrics written on almost everything I own. (It's a problem, really. . . ) I really think it's a shame that it didn't end up on an album somewhere. The Cure really should put out a new b-sides collection!

- Familiar Hit, Unfamiliar Gem

Everyone knows "Lovesong" and how wonderful it is. But few are aware (including myself, until now) of the sone "2 Late," which appears as a B-Side on this CD-Single. "2-Late" is great, and one of my favorite Cure songs.

It's also cool to hear Robert say "Fly me to the moon" on "Lovesong" remix, as it is not that clear on the original version.

Well worth a few bucks.
