- Go on, go on....Leave me breathless!

IN BLUE is the third studio album of The Corrs, which is a very popular irish band around the world. For those who have never heard about them, the Corrs are known for their wonderful talent as well as for the quality of their songs, which are a perfect combination between celtic music and pop.

IN BLUE is already a top seller everywhere, including US. It is surely different from other CDs of this band, since it does not bring the irish tradition identified in the their previous works.

Produced by Mutt Lange (Shania Twain's husband), In Blue has all the elements to please pop listeners. "Breathless" and "Irresistible" --the first 2 singles -- are cool tracks. The balads worth to be praised as well: "all the love in the world", "one night" and "somebody for someone". "No more cry" is one of my favorites, in spite of the fact that it is a very sad song, dedicated to Jean Corr, their mother, who unfortunately died of cancer during the recording process.

Summing up, if you appreciate good music, buy this CD!

- The dawning of Irish Folk Pop yet again?

I have not always been a Corrs fan, but lets be honest, you hardly get a collection of prettier sisters (and brother) on the cover a CD. This was my first attraction to The Corrs, and then I listened to UNPLUGGED, and was an immediate fan. With the release of IN BLUE, I had some mixed feelings, but believe me; this album does grow on you! The highlights on this album are:

BREATHLESS: High energy, incredibly catchy pop tune. It will manage to put a smile on your face.

GIVE ME A REASON: A mid tempo song in which The Corrs demonstrate that they have lost none of their Irish ness!

SOMEBODY FOR SOMEONE: A melancholy tune about a girl crying out for love.

SAY: Not my favourite Corrs song, as this has too much of a pop injection.

ALL THE LOVE IN THE WORLD: Another melancholy song about loneliness, this will definitely pull your heartstrings.

RADIO: Wow, this is my favourite remix of Radio. Chris Rea would have been proud of those guitar riffs.

IRRESISTIBLE: Up-tempo pop. Enough said.

ONE NIGHT: This has to be my new favourite Corrs song. Gosh, this has been produced beautifully; it will definitely put you in the mood for love. Ok, so the song is a wee bit superficial and cheesy, but cheese is good!

ALL IN A DAY: Mediocre attempt, it proves to be disappointing. AT YOUR SIDE: You all know this song, now here is the studio version. Personally, I still prefer the Unplugged version.

NO MORE CRY: I enjoy this up-tempo song, not a typical Corrs song, as it has a strong sixties influence.

RAIN: This is another mediocre mid-tempo offering, not memorable at all.

GIVE IT ALL UP: Ok, there is no way you can make reggae and Irish folk music work together. What where they thinking?

HURT BEFORE: This is a beautiful love song, guaranteed to get you humming along.

REBEL HEART: Amazing Irish folk instrumental. Sharon exceeds with the violin in this piece. I can listen to this song over and over.

On the whole, I feel that the album is a bit "overproduced", and perhaps The Corrs have become too mainstream, but nonetheless, they are incredibly talented and it makes IN BLUE a worthwhile purchase.

- Strong throughout

I bought the CD solely on the strength of "Breathless", having heard it on the radio. The rest of the album was excellent as well. A great combination of traditional irish music with an upbeat pop mix.

Many of the songs get your feet tapping and many will tug at your heartstrings a bit. A great album.

- A hypnotic blend of voices and melody

The Corrs seem to be veering a bit toward the middle of the road with this, their third studio CD, but that's not a problem for me. I wasn't overly familiar with their music until I heard "Breathless," which caught my attention immediately. The amazingly catchy melody and vocal harmonies stick in your brain after one listen. Nothing else on the CD is quite as upbeat as this first single, but that isn't necessarily a liability, as "Breathless" seems a bit like an anomoly in their catalog. The rest of the album is more subdued and thoughtful, with the melodies being a bit more subtle and haunting. Entertainment Weekly's reviewer condemned the CD, saying it sounded like "Wilson O'Phillips", but I'm not necessarily sure that's a bad thing. Cool it may not be, but if you're a fan of melodic pop with lots of harmonies, you won't be disappointed.

- IRRESISTIBLE

The Corrs are back ! And their new album is simply «irresistible, natural, physical - undefinable, magical, illogical ». Actually, these are the lyrics of their new song entitled... « Irresistible »... (So perfect an adequation, isn't it ?)

Though this long-awaited CD is dedicated to the memory of the Corrs' mother - who died last year - « In Blue » is not a melancholic album at all. It's extremely joyful and thus, seems like a celebration of Life... and Love.

When I first listened to « In blue », I was quite surprised, because this album sounded different from the Corrs' previous masterpieces « Forgiven, not forgotten » and « Talk on corners » (as far as I'm concerned, these were definitely better albums...) First I thought « In Blue » confirmed some kind of split with the Corrs' roots, and I complained : « Where have the beautiful songs of Irish inspiration gone ?...»

Then, I thought twice and admitted that anyway, « In Blue » was a great opus. The Corrs are now opened to other musical influences, such as reggae tunes (« Give it all up » is halfway between pop and Jamaican rythms) and American pop (thanks to Mr Lange... in passing, "Irresistible" sounds like Shania Twain's "That don't impress me much")

If you like pop and dance, this album is definitely for you. It will make you dance, it will make you sing, it will make you smile. "In Blue" is lacking of deepness and gravitas... but it doesn't matter. Because the essential message is : Carpe Diem, have fun and enjoy your life.
