The first 13 tracks on this Japanese-only {$Beach Boys} release were first issued in 1989 and this version adds three long and mostly unnecessary medleys to the whole affair. What's here will be of some interest to {$Beach Boy} fanatics, since it includes a cover of {$the Beatles}' {&"With a Little Held from My Friends"} sung by {$Bruce Johnston}, a version of {$the Box Tops}' {&"The Letter,"} an alternate, Dutch-only severe stereo mix of {&"Bluebirds Over the Mountain,"} an early working version of {&"Good Vibrations,"} and one of those intriguing {^SMiLE} tidbits called {&"You're Welcome."} Casual listeners will no doubt wonder what all the fuss is about, but hardcore {$Beach Boy} collectors will find this a minor but very cool addition to their personal libraries. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide
