Maria Ariadna Thalia Sodi Miranda is a crossover artist in the grand Latina tradition. Star of countless telenovelas, she has also had a singing career since the tender age of nine. However, it wasn't until she came in contact with A.B. Quintanilla III, better known as Selena's brother, that her musical career took off and she became a star both in South America and the Philippines. Her musical oeuvre is cumbia-based, sung in an attractive, mature-sounding vocal style, unquestionably commercial though with somewhat limited crossover potential--there are no Selena-like norteno arrangements here. Though it doesn't include her Filipino-oriented material (several of her hits were sung in Tagalog), GRANDES EXITOS is a comprehensive introduction to the music of this emerging Latin superstar.

You had hear that THALIA'S music didn't work in the USA, but with this new album with BANDA I belive all the hispanos especially all that people from Jalisco, Guerrero, Sinaloa, that is living in this country , will love this new album with our cute THALIA, vamos lets buy her CD.[....]

- Best of The Best
This is a compilation of Thalia's Greates Hits in Banda. To truly appreciate what banda is though you want to venture on to the tracks called La Revancha and Cuco Pena those new songs for this cd is what banda really sounds like. The other songs are just her hits with banda which sound more like Pop Banda which is a great combination. Definitely this cd is a must have for fans and those who like banda and would like a different perspective for it than the same old. I like Thalia's energy on this CD. She's talented and she sings clearly unlike other singers con banda. I like Arrasando, Cuco Peña, and of course Amor A La Mexicana. I think a lot of the songs sound like Cumbias even though it's probably not supposed to. Her voice is sweet and the content of her songs are fun to listen to (if you speak Spanish) and this CD makes you feel the rhythem of the musica picosa! This is a great CD. Thalia does a magnificant job of taking her greatest POP hits and converting them into BANDA hits. I really don't listen to banda music, but this CD does a great job of making you an instant banda lover. I recommend it to every one. |
