- Soraya...

Wow, what can I say? Soraya never fails to satisfy her fans. Here we have the final result of her newest and most intimate cd to date. For those that are not aware--or are new fans--Soraya was diagnosed with breast cancer over two years ago, right after releasing "Cuerpo Y Alma." She had to cut her promotion short, since it was up to her to avoid sharing the same fate as her mom--for whom she wrote the song "En Esta Noche"--aunt, and grandmother. Finally, after a successful recovery Soraya is back and full of energy using her first single "Casi" to prove it. "Solo Por Ti," "Espejo," and "A Tu Lado" also lets us know that Soraya was facing a tough time, and as a result, these songs make up the best of this heartfelt cd.

I can't describe nor praise enough Soraya's talent, she always seems to outdo herself with every new cd or at least equals her previous work. In "Soraya" we hear a new side to her musical evolution, and a country beat seems to work well with the theme and mood of this cd--overcoming, surviving, but most of all empowering and succeeding after facing such a life threatening ordeal.

This cd is definately for music fans that can appreciate lyrics that make sense, but most of all it is for people who seek artists--true artists--that offer genuine music and feelings with every work they do.

No disposable junk music here. Too bad most mainstream artists can't deliver such great cds.

If you like this cd I highly recommend obtaining Soraya's other work; "En Esta Noche," "Torre De Marfil," and "Cuerpo Y Alma" for more soul-touching music.

- Great

I bought this cd because I wanted to know the Soraya music, and it was a nice surprise to listen to her music and lyrics.

My favorites songs are Casi, Solo por ti, Miento, Prisionera,

Naufrago, A tu lado; I mean the entire cd. It's great

- Beautiful voice

The only other Soraya CD that I have is "En Esta Noche." I can't get enough of her beautiful voice. It is not as good as "En Esta Noche," but good enough to purchase without regret.

When I was in Buenos Aires, you could hear this CD being played over the public address systems in stores and restaurants. I also saw her music video from this CD while in Buenos Aires. I wish I could get a copy of that video. It was great.

- This album and her memoirs

This album, the 2003 self-title Soraya, is Soraya's fourth album. It was her comeback album after her cancer diagnosis in 2000, and is filled with upbeat, celebratory songs, many with themes of survival and triumph. Ths album went on to win a Latin Grammy for the best album by a singer/songwriter. She then made a fifth album, the 2005 El Otro Lado de Mi (The Better Side of Me) which cemented her career comeback in many countries. Sadly, Soraya passed away on May 10th, 2006, at age 37. She dedicated the last precious months of her life to penning her memories and her messages in an autobiography to benefit the cause of breast cancer education. That book, also called Soraya, is now available, and her life story is told in three parts: The Roots, The Rise, and The Race. This album, Soraya, coordinates with

The Rise. Her book refers heavily to the music she was writing at each important time in her life, and you might enjoy both together. Also, the Soraya album was released in English in Canada, and although it's not widely available, it can occasionally be found used on sites like Amazon and Ebay.

- Pleasure to your ears.

You might be wondering...Is there a voice out there that's refreshing and true, a voice that tells you life as it is, a voice that captures every emotion from love to solitude? Well, search no more. Soraya is your answer and her new CD the BIG treasure. After not editing in more that 3 years, she's back with a very personal, live, infectious cd. I am pleased to hear that she has not lost a single touch of emotion on composing great music. This self titled album shows a full recovery and the strenght to capture the audience that she deserves. "CASI" the first single (and this week's #1 on Billboard Latino)sings of hope, with a string arrangement very catchy that will keep you hitting the repeat button. Her effort is no less important in tracks like "Ser amado", "Miento" (it includes the English version for this track)and "Prisionera" giving you a chance to meditate on your relationships with the reflection of her voice. But she does not stick to beautiful slow songs only, "Sin explicacion" and "Porque te quiero" show her happy side, with lots of acustics and pop arrangements. My favorite track is "Naufrago" a song about overcoming any obstacle in life, keeping your faith and assuring you that happiness is possible, after all it sounds like a dream but this she is the real deal!
