Review - Yahoo! Music - Rob O'Connor :
You can practically see these guys sitting around the fire as the acoustic guitars and note-perfect harmonies surge forth. But it turns out it’ll have to be a virtual fire with virtual guys sitting around it since Secondhand Serenade is not a band, but a guy from California named John Vesely who played the guitars and sang all the harmonies on this Dashboard Confessional-inspired collection of songs that tug at the heartstrings without restraint. Armed with a MySpace page and a desire for World Domination, Vesely left behind the world of punk, ska and whatever it was his fellow musicians were playing to set about becoming a truth-seeking troubadour. His “tears run down like razorblades” and “the night smells like December” and “your face glows like a thousand diamonds” and with that you can see and hear that life for Vesely is a highly dramatic occasion. Life and love swing in the balance decisions are made. Fries with the meal? Regular soda or diet? Supersize? Or maybe a salad? The choices come fast and furious for a man in search of exact change.
