- Second club single from Seal.
This is the second single released from Seal's latest cd and it like his first single "Get It Together" --- remixed to great effect. The Burnin'Thick Dick Vocal Remix(7:45) is mixed by E Smoove and features a more guitar driven house mix that is the best mix on the cd. The Passengerz remix(7:11) and the BHQ Vocal Mix(7:24)and the 29 Palms Remix(8:18) are really well done house mixes. The Machine Head Remix(5:29) is a great non house mix similar to "Crazy" and the Wide Horizon mix of "Get It Together" in that it is really what Seal is- a little altenative /r&b and dance all mixed together. Excellent dance mix. This song is used already in commercials and is on the Hot 100 and already climbing the club charts .

- A few reworkings of a great song.
Seal is one of my favorite contemporary artists and has been since I first heard the amazing "Crazy" so many years ago. His first CD is one of my all time favorites so anything that he does is held to an almost impossible standard. His most recent release (Seal V) is one of his finest, and the remixes coming from it are as good as they get. "Waiting For You," like the first single ("Get It Together") are worth every penny, especially if you like to mix your own selections. Note that unlike "Get It Together", this release does not have the original single, but 5 versions of the original song.
Mix 1 is a hard guitar-driven house mix that slows down and picks right up hitting hard through the very end. Mix 2 is also hard hitting house but with some cool heavenly echoes, drums and a constant groove from beginning to end. Mix 3 has a acid house feel to it and does some interesting things with Seal's voice as it almost sounds like a programmed instrument (and I mean this in a good way), the comes the choruses. All in all, it's a very contagious mix although not the most innovative of the bunch.
My favorites by far are mixes 4 & 5. Mix 4 which has that "Killer"-like riff at the beginning and slowly builds and has Seal right and center. What I like most about it is that it takes it's time and has some retro production touches that got my attention. Mix five combines some of the elements of Mix 4 but house it up to energetic highs.
Although I recommend this Maxi-CD single, especially if it's not cost prohibitive, the mixes are not as diverse/original as those found in "Get It Together." I wish that there would have been a mix that stripped the song and worked around Seal and/or a nice tropical/disco feel; notwithstanding if you are a fan of remixes you'll find at least one that will make this a worthwhile purchase. Easily earns its 4 stars.
- As with Conjure One and Taylor Dayne, Peter Lorimer wins again
The remixes on here are all great, but the 29 Palms Mix by Peter Lorimer is just AWESOME!!! He turns out an applause-worthy trance epic that will leave you either breathless from dancing or stunned from its brilliance. SHEER BRILLIANCE, I SAY!!! BHQ's comes at a close second, followed by the phunky Passengerz Mix, the rocky Thick D**k mix, and finally, the absolutely horrendous Machinehead mix. MH does a crappy job at turning the tender love song into a dance anthem, BHQ incorporates the break with the choir and guitar (a wonderful choice to put in there), Thick D. does a house/rock mix that is a mixed result, and Passengerz incorporates their unique sound into it. A great buy if u love 2 DANCE!!!
- POUNDING MALE VOCAL TRANCE!
29 PALMS IS ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE GROUPS I BUY WITHOUT QUESTION...HERE THEY TURN IN A POUNDING TRANCE REMIX THAT LEAVES THE OTHER MIXES FEELING PALE...THICK D. TURNS IN A BREAKS-HOUSE NUMBER WITH NICE DRUMS, BUT THE OTHER MIXES ARE JUST BELOW AVERAGE...BHQ AND THE PASSENGERZ MIXES ARE JUST CHEESY...THE MACHINE HEAD MIX IS JUST UNDANCEABLE...

- best male Eurotechno vocal since Sono's "Keep Control"
...and maybe better than the Sono, with its soft buttery pretty-boy shine, because in this mix Seal's already soulful, strong, MANLY and uplifting baritone comes across stronger. more manly, and more uplifting than even the CD version -- and the CD version is pretty darn special already. If Seal's performance is any indication of what guy singers can do in a dance music context (and I suspect it is), it's a shame that Eurotechno, which for 20 years has been such an edifying platform for diva style singing, doesn't support more male vocals than it so far has. (Where are you, Bruce Springsteen? Pascal Obispo? Garou? Rick Astley??) Until that day arrives, Seal will do -- JUST FINE!
