- If you doubt the Artist's talent, buy this now!

I Hate U, taken from the Artist's superb album, The Gold Experience, is a pure listening pleasure. It's a song about his adulterous lover, for which he hates her and provides all the reasons for this, and reassures her with lines like, "I'd knock you off, but you ain't worth the wealth," and other classic one liners. But in his heart he knows that, through all that she's done, he still loves her, and toward the end of the song he works himself into a frenzy with his confused feelings of love and hate.

The Artist plays his organ to a fitting climax on this particular song(!) along with the NPG's tight, funky groove. And just what is the range of this man's voice? Incredible!

There are a few versions of this song so watch out for them, especially an extended version where he quotes an extract from the film, "Forrest Gump".

- Good, But ...

Basically what sells this maxi single is that Eye Hate U is a spectacular song in and of itself. The remixes are good, but conventional. You won't find any real differences here from the album version, with the exception of Eric Leeds's fantastic horn on the Quiet Night remix. My advice, go out and find a copy of the criminally out of print Gold Experience. you'll get Eye Hate U, plus Prince's best album of the O(+> period.
