- Excellent for "The Artist".

This piece of work by "The Artist" has been ignored too long. Though this piece had been released years previous, it is mesmerizing. The lyrics compelling, and the music addicting, the listener is drawn to it. The story that unfolds in this song is significant, if not important. It is by far one song that should definately be on a greatest hits disc.

- A Masterpiece

This song is a classic, but not only that it was one of the more unifying of prince tracks. Even at a time when prince was getting censored still and was still getting a bad rap for lyrics, this song came out and blew away the competition on the radio. Smart, mythological and danceable. I remember being in the record store and a parent buying this single for their 9 year old. Not only was it showing that Prince was still at the top of his game, but that he bridged the generation gap. Great music is great music, and it was great that lyrically this one could be listened to by the whole family. I do not see how anyone can give this single (or the song) under three stars. Many I have talked to not only love this song but prefer the acoustic version to the album version. The video was fantastic and had always seemed like a mini-movie more than just a music video. 2 Whomever it may concern was pretty cool though a bit cryptic."2 Whomever it may concern/u must come to your senses/there are no kings on this earth/only princes". Not sure if that was a veiled reference to Michael Jackson proclaiming himself the king of pop or not. But it is in line with "My Name is Prince" wh ere he states "u must become a prince before you're king anyway". Either way Prince has and always will be Rock Royalty. This song showcases his songwriting and vocal talents and should not be overlooked. If you are new to prince this isn't a bad place to start, the album this is from is more parental advisory, but is well worth the look as well a bit of rock opera with tons of funk and silky smooth ballads, and 7 is a masterpiece among many beautiful gems. Do yourself a favor and pick this up.

- Not 4 me, but maybe 4 u

I really enjoyed the acoustic remix of "7" and trak # six called "To Whom it May Concern." Whoever appreciates the dance side of "O(+> will dig this or anyone who is obsessed with the overcommercialized "7." Not downtrodding it, but it wasn't aquatic enough 4 my anti-radio taste, u know?

- i like the mixes better

7 the song never really got my full attention except the lyrics were something else.to whomever it may concern was a direct take to Michael Jackson.the orginal music just didn't cut it for me but the mixes add life to it.Prince is a trip.
