- Definitely not a four star album...

So please forgive my mistake.

Now, there is no doubt that Noelia is a babe; and that Golpeando Fuerte was one of the best pop albums of the last five years; but Noelia seems to have gotten it into her head that people don't want another Golpeando, and instead want weird experimental genre busters. I think not.

Now, I could handle 2003's Natural, because it did have one or two awesome songs amongst all the slow ballads (which in themselves weren't really bad). But Melao is just pushing it. Instead of a return to the awesomeness of Golpeando, as I had hoped, Noelia instead turns to yet another genre--rap. Good Lord. My fault though; I should have known this CD would suck after getting a look at the cover: Noelia, sexy as always, but flanked by two weird, shirtless rappers. Oh, boy.

So, I pop it in. EVERY song starts off with a rap, and about a minute in you finally hear Noelia say a line or two, then--you guessed it!--more rap. It beats me why her name is even on this thing. The most she does is provide back-up and throw in a line or two.

And the companion DVD is nearly as bad, at least for such a price. When you play it, it brings up a menu with some cheesy elevator music playing. You have the option of looking at some Noelia pics (very few; and each one designed to make her as unappealing as possible) or playing a video. And although she looks impossibly hot (you even get some nip in the second one), the problem here is that they only included three videos, and those they included are hands down her worst. That's not to mention that the video quality and sound isn't all that great.

This isn't the worst album I've ever purchased, but it is certainly the worst Noelia album I've ever purchased. If she returns to her roots, I'd certainly give her another shot. But one thing's for certain, I'm really pumped for a Noelia DVD. Hey--if Ana Barbara gets one, then everyone should get one.
