- An Addition To My Review

Besides of all i just said. I think the cd is better than great. it has the original 7" version, along with 3 other remixes, one called the New Order mix, which is added with some cool beats that the band loves to use. Another (my fav besides the original version) is the Fire Island mix, which is pretty beaty, has a nice piano rim to it instead of the guitar like the original one has. a nice remix if i say so myself. the last song on the cd is the Island Dub mix, kind of like the Fire Island mix, but with not words, and more beat into it. Truly, this cd of this awsome single is one of a kind, for New Order fans, i think its a must get!. take care. pc!

- better with age

In truth, I am not a big fan of late-stage New Order. I think that they had too much technology at their hands to play with and they lost their focus. Republic was, on the whole, pretty unlistenable for a longstanding New Order fan, but the song 'Regret' was one of the memories to carry away from it. I think maybe they wrote this partially with the knowledge that they were almost finished as a group, and it is (or should be) a sentimental favorite of fans. Released 7 or 8 years ago, it still sounds just as good today, and gives cause for reflection about one's life as well as the band. There is a sense of closure here, but for new fans, it is also a good example of them at their best.

- Their best single

This song is so beautiful and sad. There is just something very right about it. It has a strong beat and the Fire Island remix is awesome. One of may alltime faves, that is aging well.

- Nothing I regret

Regret is about growing up and doing less drugs, neither of which helped New Order produce some of the best indie-pop-dance-rock tracks of the 80s and 90s. After all, the outstanding guitar work on Brotherhood isn't physically possible without speed.

Nevertheless, Regret is classic New Order. A skillful blend of rock and dance, thoughtful lyrics and Hookie's outstanding bass work. Singer Bernard Sumner sounds, well, _relaxed_ and almost grateful for the chance to 'fess up.

It's not up there with the classics, which is why I only give it four stars, but if you've never heard New Order before, this would be an excellent place to start.
