Disco de Morcheeba: “Dive Deep”

Disco de Morcheeba: “Dive Deep”
Descripción (en inglés) :
Morcheeba: Ross Godfrey (guitar, guitars, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, lap steel guitar, banjo, piano, Fender Rhodes piano, Clavinet, Hammond b-3 organ, Wurlitzer organ, synthesizer, bass guitar); Paul Godfrey (drums, drum machine, sound effects, scratches).
Additional personnel: Thomas Dybdahl (vocals, guitars, acoustic guitar, piano, bass guitar); Bradley Burgess (vocals, guitars, bass guitar); Judie Tzuke, Cool Calm Pete (vocals); The Mak Of All Trades (flute); Dan Goldman (Fender Rhodes piano, synthesizer, bass guitar); Martin Carling (drums); Manda (background vocals).
DIVE DEEP is the second studio album to be recorded without Skye Edwards, the lead singer who helped catapult Morcheeba to the upper strata of the trip-hop echelon on its first four albums. Unlike its predecessor, however (which showcased singer Daisy Marty), DIVE DEEP features several vocalists, including Judie Tzuke, Thomas Dybdahl, Cool Calm Pete, and Manda (neither Edwards not Marty make an appearance),
Old-school fans might miss Edwards's cool diva vocals, but the Godfrey brothers have mixed organic sounds, expansive synths, lounge, R&B, and pop on DIVE DEEP, maintaining plenty of Morcheeba's classic vibe. Whether it's the lead single, "Enjoy the Ride," which turns on a moody, downtempo groove; the ethereal Britpop of "Riverbed"; the Nick Drake-esque flavor of "Run Honey Run"; or the head-nodding hip-hop of "One Love Karma," Morcheeba prove themselves as eclectic and appealing as ever.

- Not your father's Morcheeba

There is some great music here. It is unlike any of their previous work and that certainly threw some people. However, I love most of this music. Really. Love. There are a few rap songs that didn't make it to the ipod, but the others are fantastic!

Instead of wanting more of the old Morcheeba, I want more of the new Morcheeba!

Owning and loving both

and

and having listened to

I was turned off by the many negative reviews for this CD.

Finally biting the bullet and buying this after hearing Gained the World and Enjoy the Ride I was astonished. Are all the negative reviews put out by fair weather fans?

This CD is different, having no clear single flavor as the others have it is nonetheless an excellent addition to my collection and to all those who are turned away by negative reviews I recommend you try this CD if you are more then a passing fan. You wont be disappointed.

- One of my first Morcheeba purchases

I thought I would check out this group and get some of their CDs. I will continue to listen to and purchase Morcheeba releases.

- Good, but different

I didn't read the reviews, and was surprised by the change in vocalist on this album. My bad, I admit. While this is a good album, it wasn't what I was looking for, which was another Morcheeba album like Big Calm or Fragments.

I would suggest that if you want to feel the new direction the band has gone in, or if the older sound just didn't grab you, try this. Even if you liked the older stuff, try this. Just don't turn it on expecting the same sound as before, because then you'll be disappointed. It's good, but it isn't the same, and the same is what I was looking for.

Outstanding ~ their best work to date.

Quality Trumps Everything
