Martika was from my time -- someone that I had a youthful crush (an perhaps still do) on -- her songs are all well performed. Her two albums were awsome -- Toy Soldiers and Martika's Kitchen were in my opinion, pure gold. I was saddened by Martika's Kitchen because she had linked up with Prince (who might be ok but with Martika's Kitchen they crossed the line between fabulous lyric/music and being somewhat offensive to those of us who are Christian due to the nature of the performance that played with Christian themes in a very non-christian manner.)
This album I ordered when not thinking things through and thought it was an album of martika's that I was unfamiliar with but then I looked at the song list and it turns out to be just a combination of the better songs from the two albums.
It is heartbreaking to see that martika has been striving to refind herself in all the wrong places -- I always thought she would be a great Christian/Secular Crossover artist but she did not go that direction.
If you don't want to buy two albums or can't find the other two -- this is an excelent buy, but I would suggest the other albums otherwise. Also I suggest getting the CDs and then copying them to your computer (legal only as long as you are not making copies for distribution as "backup copies to preserve the original licsensed copy purchased" has always been the norm for music industry -- this means you can play them on your computer so long as you maintain the original copy and do not try to duplicate for distribution for either free or cost to any other person).
Then once you have been martika-ed then join me please in trying to get her to come back to her original sound and styling (as found in Toy Soldiers album) otherwise she will become a significant waisted tallent and that should not be allowed to happen.
