- A forgotten diva...
Maritka is by far one of the most underappreciated pop singers of the last 10 years. Her velvety voice and killer looks grabbed the attention of many pop fans with her first release. This album is pure pop fun, though her sophmore effort "Martika's Kitchen" is by far the superior album, songs like "If You're Tarzan I'm Jane", "See If I Care" and "More Than You Know" exempliphy pop music, while the dance version of "I Feel The Earth Move" will get you moving. More sophisticated tracks like "Water", "Toy Soldiers" and "Alibis" proved that Martika was and is a talent that we must look out for. And we will do so next year when she releases her 3rd LP for RCA.

- TOY SOLDIERS
Toy Soldiers...great song. Just get the CD for that song. Put it this way, the song makes the album worth owning, and was one of the best songs of the summmer of 1989, along with the other pop hits of the time. Let me take you back...I'm a shameless nostalgic yes...music does that to you.
SO - Martika gets my vote for having a really great song from her time period. Should get remade. Thanks for reading...

- Absolutely Breathtaking...
Anyone who listens to this CD should wonder why Martika never really got her true props alongside Cyndi Lauper, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson and even Madonna. The whole CD is fantastic, but the crowning glory is "Toy Soldiers". Even though this song talks about depression, it's raw, gritty message struck a chord with Martika's audience and shot up the charts to Number One. Every time I hear it, I feel as if I'm hearing it for the first time, like I did that summer of 1989. Had she been given the proper songwriters and business management, Martika would have rivaled Madonna to this very day. "Won't you come out and play with me?"....

- Great Debut from forgotten pop princess
I do not know why Martika didn't strike gold with this album. Her signature autobiographical song "Toy Soldiers" is beautiful. This former star of the Disney Channel's defunct teen variety show "Kids Incorporated" should of been as big as Debbie Gibson. Her vocals are excellent considering the time period of the late 80's and im sure by now she has grown even more. But lots of great artists get lost in the shuffle when more pretty less talented people emerge.

- A great CD
I love most of the songs on this CD! "Toy Soldiers" is the best here, but "More than You Know" and "Cross My Heart" are also great. And most of the songs ARE great. Just a couple of weak spots (most noteably "Alibis"), but still a great CD!
