- EXCELLENT CD SINGLE! A MUST HAVE!!
Okay, when I first unwrapped this CD Single, I did not think it was going to be at all as good as the 'Can't Take That Away' Maxi CD Single, but I was proven wrong! It rocked! If you're not into the whole club music theme, get this one instead of the 'Can't Take That Away/Crybaby' Maxi CD Single.
1) Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme): This song is extremely powerful vocal wise and is life changing lyrically. After listening to this song, you will feel motivated and feel better about who you are as a person.
2) Crybaby - Personally, this is my favorite Mariah Carey song. Damizza produced it, so you know it has a crazy beat to it. Even though it is hip-hop edged, it really showcases Mariah's incredible vocal range, unlike most of Carey's hip-hop songs, and it's long too, more than 5 minutes in length, you will still want to hear more. The fact that Snoop is on it makes it more better!
3) Love Hangover/Heartbreaker - I believe this is from Diva's Live '00. She covers the Diana Ross song and then it turns into a Heartbreaker remix performance! It is really neat!
Even though Crybaby outshines Can't Take That Away in catchiness, they are both two pieces of incredible work, and don't let the girly cover fool you. Guys can relate to both 'Can't Take That Away' and 'Crybaby' as well!

- Extra Track
Okay, so I love "Can't Take That Away" and "Crybaby", but the real reason I got this Cd is because of "Heartbreaker/Love Hangover. You have got to hear this. It sounds great live.

- cant take that away from her!
This song is a great song, its a perfect example of mariah struggle with her company. The biggest company in the world (SONY) are giving her problems and they are not promoting her albums and singles like other artists on thier label, and the reason is because her x-husband is jealous of her other relation ships, and come to think of it mariah helped make sony she sold over 130,000,000 album world wide in only twn years. and I really cant wait untill her contract runs out because alot of other recording lables has offered her really really big deals such as, ARISTA, and WARNER BROS. so mariah dont wait once your contract is up leave sony and go to a better lable.

- Just the best!!!
This is one of the most greatest songs ever, it brought a tear to my eye, in happiness that it made me believe in myself. I love it and I love her. Thank you Mariah for everything. She helped me through a bundle of problems, with my mixed heritage and everything, so thank you Mariah. For being such a great role model to your light skinned fans, because theres not many of us.

- Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme)
By the end of the 90's, songstress Mariah Carey had gone through several life changing moments. She'd separated from her husband of 4 years Tommy Mottola in 1997 and the divorce became official the next year. Mariah's image took a drastic change from the girl next door/tight jean shorts of Dreamlover to a more scantily clad diva in the video for Honey and her music incorporated more hip-hop influences.
Like the saying goes, you can't please everybody. Fans of Mariah's earlier pop and adult contemporary ballads were turned off by her new direction and the diva was branded everything but a child of God by those offended by her barely there "ensembles". All that negativity would take anyone down, but Mimi decided to face her detractors head on and continue celebrating her newfound freedom as both an artist and a woman.
Released as the 3rd single from 1999's Rainbow, Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme) is an uplifting ballad that rises above all the naysaying and put downs with faith in oneself and the help of God. "They can do anything they want to you/If you let them in/But they won't ever win/If you cling to you pride, and just push them aside... Cuz there's a light in me/That shines brightly/They can try/But they can't take that away from me!" Yeah, it's cliche (Diane Warren co-wrote the lyrics), but so true and highly relatable. Sang it, Mimi! Great production from Janet's musical partners Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
The slinky Crybaby samples Guy's 1988 groove Piece of My Love. Suffering from insomnia, Mariah reflects on an ex she shouldn't have left. "Ok, so it's 5 AM and I still can't sleep/Took some medicine/But it's not workin'/Someone's clingin' to me/And it's bittersweet/Cuz he's head over heels/But it ain't that deep".... "Late at night like a little child/Wanderin' 'round alone/In my new friend's home/On my tippy toes/So that he won't know/I still cry, baby/Over you and me!" Snoop Dogg drops with a few rhymes with an "I told you so" tone in response to Mariah's bad choice. Mimi's vocals start off soft and a bit weary, but she's completely delirious with regret toward the end. "I gotta get me some sleeeeeep!"
The final bonus track is the 2000 Diva's Live performance of Heartbreaker that later flips into Diana Ross' disco classic Love Hangover. An entertaining tribute to Miss Ross and the note Mariah hits at the end is insanely high. Enjoy!
