- LULU STILL HAS IT!
Lulu is just as great as she was when she first sang "Shout!" -- Her vocal range is still the same, as well as her powerful voice. This album, just released in August of 05, features Lulu covers of some of the greatest songs of the soul/Motown catalogue. Each track has become my favourite, and this will never get old to me. This is the greatest album since 04's "Back On Track" (Meaning Lulu never ceases to surprise us :)

- Lulu Still Going Strong
Lulu gets to do her favorite r&b & pop oldies on this newest release of her's. Lulu still has that voice that we all know & love. This lady can sing! The only difference in telling these recordings from her 1960's/1970's/1980's is the production. In the 60's, Decca had the biggest sounding production with full orchestra with brass & string instruments that pop music ever boasted. Here the production is modern, with a mix of real instruments & programming. To me, this can't compare to that big sound of real musicians, brass & strings used on so many of Lulu's 60's recordings. Lulu's voice is the main attraction here, and she can still belt it out.
My favorites are I THANK YOU, I CAN'T TURN YOU LOOSE, TRY A LITLE TENDERNESS, PUT A LITTLE LOVE IN YOUR HEART, and GO NOW. Lulu redoes her 1964 version of JUST ONE LOOK again and also her 1980 version of YOU SEND ME is remade too. A few of these oldies have been overplayed from the original versions like THE SHOOP SHOOP SONG and BABY I NEED YOUR LOVING. It would have been good for her to delve into some more obscure or forgotten soul songs , rather than all well known hits. As a bonus, there is a lovely new ballad GATEWAY TO HEAVEN. All in all, Lulu is still at the top of her form, and any Lulu fan will get something off this album to enjoy.

- Lulu - a little soul in your heart
Although I have been a huge Lulu fan throughout the years (I have just about everything she has recorded), I found this CD disappointing. The songs are mostly favorites of the '60s, yet, I found the overall sound too much like something she may have recorded back in 1968 -well done, but somewhat dull, especially following her releases in the '90s and later.
- One of the most fun cds around!
Lulu had her first hit in 1964. The lady can still knock it out of the park! This gem from 2004 covers some of the great soul records of the Sixties. She shows more S-O-U-L here than all the XFactor or Idol singers put together. Not a bad performance on here. Put some Soul in your heart by buying this!
- Lulu is a Soul Singer
This is great compilation of some of the finest 60s songs updated but true to the originals. Lulu's strong voice adds a freshness to each of them with powerful energy and soul. Her voice is upfront and the production is excellent. The only letdown is that the album is only some 37 minutes leaving the listener wanting more! Lulu emerged in the UK when she was only 14 and her first single, "Shout" was a big hit. She is as good as she ever was and I do recommend this CD highly.
