- wonderful family sounds

Knew Lisa Loeb's name from a while ago and knew about Ida, but very taken with this really beautiful compilation. There is clearly a market for 30-something plus year old parents who are into music, who then have little ones. We love this and Elizabeth Mitchell's other CDs.

- Love the 2 videos!

This CD is a little slow for my daughter's taste (she's ALWAYS in motion!) but I think the songs are beautiful. I wish the DVD had more videos...2 is not enough, b/c they are wonderful!

- Love it!

A couple of years ago, I bought this when I was starting my first teaching job. The exceptional needs children I taught really liked the soothing guitar and pure vocal stylings of these two ladies. By pure, I mean that the voices are lovely but most importantly, the songs are not layered or over-produced like so many others. Being that the music is simply lovely and removed from unnecessary complications, I found it perfect for playing low when they are participating in physical education or working on art in their workgroups.

In addition to playing it during activities, this is the perfect CD for listening and singing along on the road with your kids; it is a breath of fresh air having an alternative to the spectrum of music that consists of top-40s to Wiggles. If you are looking for music for your children to listen to that showcases different languages(including French "Fais Do Do," Spanish "La Manita," & English), American art songs, and other children's songs that are peppy and great for their big imaginations, then you will definitely want to invest in this CD.

It was obvious that the album was assembled with consideration, appreciation, and love of good, appropriate music for children. I am sure that both you and your kids will enjoy it!

- Highly recommended!

I bought this CD over 6 years ago and have recommended it to all my "expecting" friends. My boys have enjoyed this CD nearly every night since birth and none of us are "sick" of the songs. Songs are fun, soothing and are great for car rides as well as the nursery. The original CD I purchased came with a book and my boys enjoyed the book as well.

- Sweet, Endearing and Fun

We were huge Elizabeth Mitchell fans when we got this. And as someone who "liked" Lisa Loeb before, I love her more on this album. Her voice seems less "sticky sweet" than on her pop songs I've heard. It is a mellow cd, but children need to be exposed to and enjoy mellow music too! Elizabeth Mitchell's music is very appealing to us as parents who want to expose our children to "real" music with a nod to American music's roots...including the other cultures that have influenced it...and that is more simple, without the silliness and bells and whistles. They have their place I suppose...but this kind of music is easier for parents to listen to, and exposes children to music that is wonderful and has them in mind...but hasn't been made super silly and super hyper for a particular audience that some childrens artists think can only appreciate that kind of music.

The story inside the liner notes is sweet. It is short, but it is loving and a beautiful tribute to friendship and love. And the videos! My kids can't get enough of those two videos! It is good to know ahead you're only getting two songs, which is too bad...but they are delightful performances of the title track and a more 'spirited' song. Again, Mitchell and Loeb are dressed with toned downed earth colors..nothing flashy to distract from the *music*. For me it was a special treat because Elizabeth plays her tambourine, and I had just purchased two "real" tambourines for my kids, to add to their collection of small, colorful "play" tambourines, made for kids.
