I stumbled over Lars Winnerbäck accidentally on the web, fiding a live clip of "Elden" which I couldn't stop playing. Then I found it was no fluke; he has many very good songs. This collection is a great way to get a large selection of his work into your hands at once and is well worth it though you will probably want more.
This singer-songwriter and rocker all-in-one adeptly pulls folk and rock influences together in a tune. His fast songs have a headlong momentum to them so that I love the way they move.("Elden," "Åt Samma Håll," "Söndermarken," "Nån Annan." But his lyrics really are something special and it is well worth it to take a look at the lyrics and the translations you can easily find on the internet whether or not you are interested in learning Swedish. (I'm assuming most people that would see this on the U.S. Amazon wouldn't necessarily be Swedish speakers, but who knows.) He excels in lyrics (whether it's a fast or slow song/ballad)that create a sort of small but gem-like slice of life -- "Nån Annan" is a good example that has a sort of bittersweet nostalgia. His lyrics have substance and avoid sentimentality; this is a very deft songwriter indeed. Lasse is a bard and he rocks as well!
