Kim Carnes Album: “Voyeur”

VOYEUR is probably Kim Carnes' masterpiece. Hearing it again after all these years reminds me of just how powerful this work was in its time -- and it still sounds superb! Though not as commercially successful as its predecessor, MISTAKEN IDENTITY, this was a much more cohesive collection and deserved better. Excellent songs (musically and lyrically), perfect production and that distinctive voice all combine to make this an essential purchase. Packaging is superb, with a slipcase and lyrics, and at an incredible price!

Now where's "CAFE RACERS?" Please EMI-Holland release it, NOW! I LOVED this album and used to listen to it (even without chemical enhancement!) on headphones all the time in '82 and could not understand why it wasn't a hit. From the cover photo to the up-late-at-night-playing-piano ballad "Breaking Away from Sanity" this CD is an ahead of its time classic! Way more personal and rockin' than anything out right now. I like that song "The Arrangement" - - good lyrics and guitar from Waddy and Kim and Martha Davis sound good together.

The wait is been TOO LONG indeed. I always wondered why is it they don't have all Miss Carnes music on CD'S, specially everything after "Voyeur". Well, this album was given to me as a gift in the 80's and ever since I listen this record it became one of my favorites albums EVER!. A definite classic, Kim soars from the opening title track, the futuristic tune of "Voyeur" to the flirtatious assertiveness of "Take it to the Chin"; Kim absolutely rocks! and with plenty of style and sophistication. Everything on this CD is amazing, from the lyrics through the band's performance. Her voice is at her very best. This one is a big keeper. Look for the re-release of another Voyeur CD+bonus tracks, Cafe Racers & Barking at Airplanes (8/28/01). Next should be "Lighthouse" another great CD. Looking foward for more of Miss Carnes music.

Truly a mindblowing cd then and now! I wore out 2 cassettes of this title and am more than glad to see ths cd in its ORIGINAL form. I have to agree that all the tracks are awesome. Hope to see her other later cds re-released. 5 stars...
