- A Strong Start....
I'm Not Giving You Up is quite simply one of Gloria's Greatest Songs Ever...and having been a fan since the early days that is quite a compliment indeed, but this track is just faultless...the album version is outstanding, beautiful (lyrically and musically), thought provoking, haunting...but heard in it's clubbed up version is even better...this is Gloria at her greatest & ALL fans should have these mixes! The CD single itself, however, is a mixed bag...the 1st 3 tracks and the live medley are outstanding and essential to all Gloria Collections...but unfortunately the same can't be said for the Higher mixes...the club versions of this track don't prevent it from being the weakest song from Gloria's Destiny album! I love this cd I was looking for another Gloria cd when I found this and I could not take it out of my cd player. My favorites track is track 8 Live remix and track 2 I'm not giving you up Single remix. Ever heard the expression "poetry in motion?" Well "I'm not giving you up" is poetry in music. With the MOST terrific lyrics ever written about love and a simple, yet refined arrangement, this Gloria Estefan ballad outshines every other song in the album "destiny." she's my #1. The best of the best of the best of the best. She's a diva. I have her whole collection of cd's and cds etc. But I'm not going to buy a cd of Mariah Blarey or any of the other cd's below . Because Glo is the one for me, ever since I heard Dr. Beat!!!!!!!!!!!!I love her a lot. |
