- Not Just Another Falco Compilation Album
As a Falco addict I knew I would have to buy this, but was a bit wary that it might just be another "Greatest Hits"-type compilation album (there is only so many copies of Der Kommissar a Falco fan needs. Across the 15 Falco albums in my collection, I have 13 copies of Der Kommissar!). However, this album is quite superb. All the songs have been totally re-mastered and sound great. The first half of the album has all Falco's most well-known songs plus a couple from 'Einzelhaft' (perhaps his best album?). However, the second half is my favourite - including Europa, Manner Des Westens (a masterpiece no matter what version you listen to) and probably the best version of Der Kommissar I have heard - the Symphonic Version (play it loud). There are a few songs that would have been great to see included (especially if they were re-mastered as well as those on this album) - Titanic, The Sound of Musik and Out of the Dark. (For a great version of The Sound of Musik, try the Falco Symphonic DVD - epic!). However, there are also a couple of bonuses - there is a great (albeit brief) Falco biography in the insert (in English for a change - hooray!!), and it is fantastic to see Urban Tropical included (originally the B-side to Rock Me Amadeus). Not exactly a Falco masterpiece, but shows Falco having fun, and is a great way to finish the album. (I challenge you to not be singing along with the chorus after a few listens - totally addictive!) Highly recommended album for both those wanting a 'Best of Falco' album for their collection and also for us die-hard fans out there who love everything Falco. You won't be disappointed. Love and peace!
- Must have for any Falco lover!
I received this as a birthday gift from my dear auntie, and I'd have to second the opinion that this is a must have for any Falco fan!
First of all you get the special T. Borger remix of Manner Des Westerns, in addition to an extended version of Data De Groove and the "original" non maxi version of Urban Tropical.
I'm an American who only recently discovered the rest of this amazing and underrated musician's music, this would be a good start for a new fan.
- My new favorite CD
I have always loved Falco and this really is an "ultimate collection". There are only one or two songs I skip over, but out of 18, I would say that's pretty good.
Listening to the CD makes me wish for some earlier, classical work of his; what a fantastic voice!
This CD is a "must buy"
