Erasure Album: “On the Road to Nashville”

Erasure Album: “On the Road to Nashville”
Description :
Erasure: Andy Bell (vocals); Vince Clarke (guitar, mandolin, melodica).
Additional personnel: Steve Walsh (guitar, mandolin).
Recording information: Ryman Auditorium, Nashville, TN. (2006).
The third major Erasure release in three years, 2007's ON THE ROAD TO NASHVILLE continues a remarkably prolific streak for the British synth-pop duo. This live DVD/CD set, recorded in Music City's landmark Ryman Auditorium, works as a companion piece to UNION STREET, and once again finds Vince Clarke and Andy Bell in an unlikely, but intriguing, acoustic setting. Highlights of the audio disc include the swooning "Boy," the shimmering "Tenderest Moments," and a beautifully spare version of the hit "A Little Respect," all of which shine the spotlight on Bell's emotive vocals. In addition to a documentary, the DVD also presents a number of bonus performances, making NASHVILLE essential for any devoted Erasure fan.

- Better Than What I Expected!

I just got this cd in the mail yesterday and I LOVED IT. I've been a fan of Erasure since 1987 but I have to admit that I got disconnected from their music when they did the CDs "Other People's Songs" and "Nightbird". At that time, I thought their songs started to sound the same. This new CD is such a refreshing change from all that electronic stuff the band is known for. Just imagine classic Erasure songs redone with different arrangements in the context of country music. I know it sounds crazy but the band pulled it off. Go to YouTube and check out some video clips from their acoustic shows. Too bad MTV Unplugged is not around anymore. Erasure could have done that show and blown everybody away.

- excellent erasure!

I didn't expect to find a "live" Erasure cd so great. The more I listem to it, the more I like it. This is a great addition to any Erasure collection. BUY THIS CD!!!

Great songs....Andy gets to step out vocally with the acoustic sound. Band is excellent.

We saw this show when it came to San Francisco, fantastic show from a long time favorite band of ours. Great new versions of some classics.

We bought the studio version as well as the import concert from this same show but this CD is the best of the three versions I like both the prior versions but the studio album lacks the energy of a live show and the import live cd from an earlier concert has a weaker vocal performance from Andy. His voice is much stronger on this cd plus this cd has "Breathe" from the Nightbird cd which is not on either prior release.

When I went to their Union Street show, I was disappointed that they didn't offer a live recording from earlier in the tour for sale.

So when I saw this, I knew that I had to get it! For fans for Union Street, this is a necessary addition as they perform many songs that weren't on Union Street.

I haven't watched the DVD yet, I'm sure it'll be as great as their shows usually are!
