Disco de Donna Summer: “Power of One [CD5/Cassette]”

Donna's voice has taken on that vintage and timeless quality that cannot be discerned from most other female singers with time's passage. And come to think of it, hers is not a singular voice---it is an amalgam of voices, distinct, ever-changing but never conflicting. This song is a perfect ballad for her. The lyrics and music are heartwarming yet powerful. The reviewer from Hawthorne, NJ hit the mark! No one can describe it better than s/he did.

I haven't heard the song played on the air, however. Am I in the wrong city or tuned in to the wrong stations? Pop/Top 40 radio stations, deejays, hello!???

Over the years, Donna Summer has proven herself in the worlds of disco and dance music. But she has yet to have success with her ballads. Which is a shame really. And though her thinner, more transparent vocals have made songs like Love to Love You Baby and I Feel Love massive chart hits, Ms. Summer can BELT a song out! Power of One is a perfect example of this. The lush, vibrant instrumentation, coupled with her powerhouse delivery of the song's very inspirational lyrics, produce a song like no other. It is very hard not to be moved by this powerful song. And though this song is taken from the soundtrack to a children's movie, Power Of One would definitely fit in comfortably on Adult Contemporary or Pop music stations.

There is no denying that Power Of One is a powerful song. It certainly has the power to be a smash hit. And a hit ballad is something that Donna Summer has been lacking for much too long. And I say it's a shame.

There are very few people (if any) that have that voice! Summer does it again. The song is SO possitive and uplifting and Donna's voice is just priceless! Disney-like song, but, as always, Donna just makes it extremely special. A MUST HAVE !

Fan or not, Donna Summer's "The Power of One" ballad is--by far--one of her best songs--EVER. Beautifully written and sung, the music is incredible and she never sounded better. I was blown away when I "stumbled" onto HBO just now and actually only caught the last minute and a half [approx.] of the song. I sat there basking in the music, the words, and the voice--noting that the voice sounded "familiar." I was pleasantly surprised when I realized it was DS -- a MUST-HAVE, people . . .

La Diva does it again! An incredible song in which Donna begins singing with a voice any artist would be proud to own and ends with a powervoice that only Donna Summer can muster. If radio doesn't catch on to this song, it would only be because they don't care about their audience. With this song Donna proves once again why she's considered perhaps the all-time greatest voice ever in pop music and people DESERVE to hear this performance. Beautiful!
