Donna Summer Album: “Endless Summer (+1 Bonus + 2 Alternate Tracks)”
Description :
Personnel includes: Donna Summer, Barbra Streisand (vocals); Nick Moroch (guitar); Lil Louis (programming).
Producers include: Donna Summer, Pete Bellotte, Giorgio Moroder, Gary Klein, Quincy Jones.
Compilation producer: Bas Hartong.
Includes one bonus and two alternate tracks.
Coming only a year after the more in-depth Mercury collection THE DONNA SUMMER ANTHOLOGY, the single-disc ENDLESS SUMMER might seem redundant, but the latter set smartly focuses almost exclusively on Summer's classic disco era and her later dance anthems. The song selection is unbeatable--nobody recorded more disco classics than Summer--and the production, largely by the team of Giorgio Moroder and Pete Belotte, defines the Eurodisco aesthetic, all ticking krautrock-inspired synths and swooping strings.
Even the later, less unique tracks like the Quincy Jones-produced "Love Is in Control (Finger on the Trigger)" sound terrific. If you're looking for a one-disc Summer anthology, ON THE RADIO might delve slightly deeper, but ENDLESS SUMMER is arguably more powerful.

- ENDLESS PLEASURE

Endless Summer is a chronological collection of Donna's greatest hits from the middle 1970s (Love To Love You Baby) through the late 1980s (This Time I Know It's For Real).

It offers the best of her dance classics like I Feel Love, MacArthur Park, Hot Stuff, Bad Girls; the best of her ballads such as Dim All The Lights and On The Radio; plus great pop songs from the decade of the 1980s when she worked with a variety of producers.

My favourites amongst her post-disco work include the majestic State Of Independence and This Time I Know It's For Real. This collection proves that Donna could do it all - her mastery of various styles is complete and her talent has stood the test of time.

Five stars for this great album by a singer who was once the Queen of Disco but has proved herself a consummate vocalist and a true original long after the disco lights had faded.

- Nice collection of Donna Summer video clips

Finally we have a great bunch of Donna Summer clips available on video! The video starts off with a medley of several big hits of her "Bad Girls" album. Sadly enough the medley shows only a collection a pictures and luckily ends with the real "Last Dance" scene from "Thank God It's Friday". Remembering hot performances of Donna during her "Bad Girls" tour, shots of that concert would fit better than this picture collection. But ok, there are some real hot clips left. Highlights are "She Works Hard For The Money", "Dinner With Gershwin", "Love's About To Change My Heart" and the video of "Melody Of Love" . Why the last one is never played on MTV or so... that's her biggest mystery! The videoclip is really stirring! Sadly enough they used parts of the "Hot Summer Night" concert (also on video) for the tracks "MacAthur Park", "On The Radio" and again "Last Dance". Where are those orginal performances? A missed chance to make this compilation far better.

- Queen of Recycling

I bought this same exact video under the title of Donna Summer's hits several years before this latest retrospective. The only thing that changed here was the intertitles between the songs. Still, this is the most complete of the videos of her former career. Hopefully, her next effort in a greatest hits package will be more inclusive than her last greatest hits package.

I love the woman's voice, and her work, but every other album from her has been a retrospective from her first three albums.

- I loved it. Putted 1 of her songs on my website!!!!

Check it out. [...]

It's on the last button. It is my favorite CD. I heard it, when I begin to be a Teenager. I heard that song, when I use to live in Georgia.
