- Destiny's Child

Ok so I pulled out debut albums of my recent favorite girl groups and wanted to add my 2 cents about DC's debut. I completely agree with Rara Estilo's comments about the enjoyable parts of this disc - namely the harmonies, the melodies of the songs and how well the vocal production is on this album. That's because at the time, they were obviously a GROUP, that's because it was a time before the "DianaRossification" of Beyonce and her elevation to lead singer (I wish I could take credit for that term but I stole it from someone else and find it hilariously accurate).

The standout songs to me on the disc are:

Second Nature (very ambitious taking on the Isley Bros but the vocal production is beautiful)

No No No - Pt 2 (should've left part 1 on the cutting board)

With Me, Pt 1 (catchy, displays all members' vocals)

Tell Me (beautiful ballad)

Illusion (another catchy Wyclef production)

Sail On

It's definitely a disc that fans of the group should have and appreciate because it's a great starting point and reference to see how a group can & did change in just a few short years.

- BEYONCE IS THE NEXT BIG STAR

I just love this CD. Aside from being cute as hell, Beyonce has got the one of the most beautiful, exotic and soulful voices in a long time. The best song on the album is the remake of the 1979 Commodore classic "Sail On", everytime I hear that one I just get absorbed into another world by the power/beauty of her voice. No No No parts 1 & 2 are excellent in being related from the start then taken in completely different directions. Illusion has the potential to just "drive" into your brain with a never ending rhythm. "With Me" has classic JD production along with P's remix. Destiny's Child has the right potential to take it to the full extreme, so does Beyonce if she ever goes solo.

- Second Nature

Very good debut. Back in 1997 there was a unknow girl group by the name of Destiny Child who had a lead singer that starved for success and perfection. Since then the group has undergone changes in members along with selling millions and a lead singer that is now a HOUSEHOLD NAME across the world.Back to the debut album where all started Destiny Child is filled with a string of hits that were not commercial hits for the group. No No No PT 1&2 was both hits follow by blazing tracks on the cd including Second Nature,Killing Time, Birthday and Tell Me. This cd was wrote off as a flop and one hit wonder singles. WRONG>>>>>If you are a fan of any DC album you must have Destinys Child debut.

- mmmmmmmkay...

I would have rated this album with 5 stars but their second album is sooo much better. well, amyway...

Second Nature--the guitars in the beginning are nice but other then that, it's boring.

No, No, No - (with Wyclef Jean, part II)--you all heard this so you decide

With Me - (with Jermaine Dupri, part I)--a favorite. the beat is phat!

Tell Me--kinda boring

Bridges--a cool song. The beginning is awsome. For some reason, reminds me of my kindergarden years but it's still cool.

No, No, No - (part I)--you all heard this so you decide

With Me - (with Master P, part II)--funny! I first heard the chorus to this song I was laughing hysterically but it's still a favorite.

Show Me The Way--ehh...

Killing Time--a pretty ballad

Illusion - (with Wyclef Jean/Pras)--a favorite. It's more upbeat then the others but the chorus is spiffy.

Birthday--not really a favorite but I still like to listen to it.

Sail On--a pretty ballad.

My Time Has Come--another pretty ballad.

If you're thinking about getting this album, be my guest but the second album is soooooo much better.
