Culture Club Album: “Greatest Hits”

Culture Club Album: “Greatest Hits”
Description :
Culture Club: Boy George (vocals); Roy Hay (guitar, keyboards); Mikey Craig (bass guitar); Jon Moss (drums).
Recording information: 1982 - 2002.
Led by the notoriously androgynous Boy George, Culture Club took the
world by storm in the 1980s. Their mix of pop, soul, and reggae may not
have been unprecedented, but it certainly was a refreshing break from
the scads of soundalike New Wave bands cluttering up the airwaves. A
singles band nonpareil, Culture Club is well served by GREATEST HITS, a concise culling of their career highlights. While they were certainly
not without their festive moments (the lilting, calypso-tinged "I'll
Tumble 4 Ya," the singalong sunniness of "Karma Chameleon"), George and his pals were at their best on the more melancholy, midtempo tunes ("Do You Really Want to Hurt Me;" "Time"), where the Boy really got a chance to burn his torch at both ends. Decades later, Culture Club's best moments still stand up a hell of a lot better than many of their contemporaries' records.

- THE BEST CULTURE CLUB COMPILATION IN THE STATES!!

I've been a huge fan of Culture Club since their heyday back in the 80's. I own pretty much every release they've had including all the remastered releases of their original albums.

This is by far the best compilation to come out in the States. The sound is superb!! crystal clear, you get all the singles released in the U.S., the booklet contains pictures of the singles covers which is nice to look at. There always seemed to be something missing in every Culture Club compilation released in the States, but this should satisfy the average Culture Club fanatic. It's nice to have Mistake #3 here, in my opinion, it's one of CC's finest recordings, even though it didn't do well in the charts.

If you were to own one Culture Club CD, this if the one, get it!!!

- Collector's Choice!

There are other Culture Club collections out there - some including Boy George's solo material too. But for the best sounding most complete, this is the CD to choose. Not only are there more songs than on the others - they truly represent what made this group great! Better yet - they never sounded as good as they do here! BUY THIS CD!

- Do you really want to hurt me

One thing i must say to the haters, is that Culture Club music was fun 80's music at its best. Some serious, some was just plain dance music. This cd in particular i must say was well done in selection as well as quality. A definite must buy for any culture club fan!

- Still good after all these years

I grew up with this music and others like them. There is nothing today that can compete with tunes like this. This band and these songs are unique and original. Some are meant to move your mind, some are meant to move your heart, and some are meant to just simply move your feet. This album is full of the hits from Culture Club that I remember. They all have sentimental value as to how they related to certain times in my life. There is not one song on this album that I don't like, and I enjoy singing along. Boy George's voice is smooth and mesmerizing. Music of today is so boring and dull. I am so glad I grew up during the 60's, 70's and 80's when music was supreme. Check out this album. These are Culture Club's greatest.
