This is an Enhanced CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
MI REFLEJO contains 4 songs from Christina Aguilera's eponymous debut and 1 song from the MULAN soundtrack presented in Spanish, as well as 6 new Spanish songs.
Personnel includes: Christina Aguilera (vocals); Luis Fonsi (vocals); Tony Concepcion (trumpet); Paul Rein (keyboards, drums, programming); Rudy Perez (keyboards); Julio Hernandez (bass); Johan Aberg (drums, programming); Wendy Pedersen (background vocals).
MI REFLEJO was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album.
MI REFLEJO won the 2001 Latin Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Album. "Pero Me Acuerdo De Ti" was nominated for the 2001 Latin Grammy Award for Record Of The Year.
MI REFLEJO won the 2001 Billboard Latin Music Award for Female Pop Album of the Year and for Pop Album of the Year by a New Artist.
This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
Ever since the mainstream acceptance of Latin pop in the late '90s, it's become fairly common for artists who first came to prominence singing in Spanish to put out English-language albums, but MI REFLEJO is one of the few examples of the opposite process. Teen pop goddess Christina Aguilera, who comes from Ecuadorian stock, uses this album as an opportunity to pay homage to her roots. Sure, it doesn't hurt that MI REFLEJO will endear her to a whole new audience, but the singer has professed a desire to do something like this that dates back to her pre-icon days.
A few of the tunes here are simply versions of her previous hits--including the breakthrough smash "Genie in a Bottle"--with Spanish lyrics. Most of the album, however, features new songs chosen specifically for this project and recorded with a Latin pop approach in mind. Needless to say, Ricky Martin-loving Latin pop enthusiasts will find as much to enjoy here as diehard Aguilera fans.

- Props to the Senorita!

Christina Aguilera, the pop superstar from such hits "Genie in a Bottle" and "Come on Over", has taken her talent back to her Ecuadorian roots for her first Spanish album.

While the newer Spanish versions of some of her English songs may sound a bit weird, I still think they sound wonderful. In fact, I love the Spanish versions of Reflection (Mi Reflejo) and I Turn To You (Por Siempre Tu).

The best song on the album is Pero Mi Acuerdo De Ti, which you will not find on her debut album. The musicality is gorgeous and the lyrics (including the translation) are just incredible.

It's amazing what this girl can do with her talent...and to take it back to her Hispanic heritage...I just have to give my props to this Senorita!

- Mi Reflejo is a Grammy-winning-must-have latin hit!

Christina's Debut spanish album surpased expectations and sold millions of copies in its first months. It was #1 latin cd on the billboard charts for more than 11 weeks. It earned a latin grammy even when it was running against latin superstars like Paulina Rubio and Thalia.

Mi Reflejo includes five translations from Christina's debut album (Reflection, Genie in a bottle, What a girl wants, Come on over, I turn to you) And also six completely new songs. Six of the eleven tracks are ballads, 2 have a latin taste to them and three are pop.

Christina released five videos for this album. Its one of my favorite albums and I highly reccomend it to people all ages. (believe me, you will enjoy this album even if you cant understand the language)

- Soulful Latin Music

Not only does she propel her vocal talents into english but as well in spanish, this 11-track album expresses Christina's Ecuadorian roots of her fahers side. Each song has it's own special touch of music, lyrics, and emotions. If you enjoy listening to ballads then this is the album for you, mostly because there are about 6 ballads and 5 dance songs, it's all there from the pop-dance groove of Ven Conmigo to the sweet latin ballad of Contigo En La Distancia. If you wanna get away from bubblegum pop then get this album. Her spanish LP earned her a Latin Grammy for Best Latin Album and stayed at #1 for 8 weeks on the Latin Hot 100 Album BillBoard Chart.

- Just One Word.......WOW !!

Well, being the devoted Britney fan that I am, I have been sitting on the fence over Christina and who I actually like best. I mean, Britney's 'Oops, I Did It Again' CD is a fantastic follow up to her smash debut....and I must say, much better...but after hearing this new one from Christina, there's no doubt in my mind that this girl can SING !! Actually, she can sing circles around Britney....but Christina's sound is much more soul-packed, room-shaking R & B. She is amazing !! Her hits that she sings in Spanish take on a whole new meaning...and her voice has really developed even more, and she hits ranges and notes that rival if not surpass the best in the business. I have bought many Spanish language follow-up CD's, but this one takes the grand prize, hands down!! Even if you have her debut CD, like I do, get this one also....you won't regret it....and I am sure you will agree that Christina is well on her way to being a Latina Diva !! You go girl !!!

- Great voice, but concept is bothersome...

I think Christina has a terrific voice, I mean, she sounds better than Mariah Carey did when she was good. This is not a bad CD, and it's not a great CD. It's difficult to explain. The way I feel about it is this: I don't feel that Christina 'feels' what she is singing when she sings in Spanish. Anyone can enunciate Spanish. It's not a difficult language, and yes, Christina's voice is technically great, but it's nothing for her to sing some Spanish lyrics. I just don't feel any emotion in it as she sings. She clearly doesn't understand what she's singing. She can just pronounce the words and sing it beautifully, but there's nothing behind it. Selena was a singer who didn't know Spanish, but you felt the emotion in her words when she sang in Spanish. And not to mention that glorious voice. I guess it comes with time or experience, or something. I don't know what it was that Selena had, but Christina doesn't have that emotion in her voice to make me feel the beauty of the Spanish.

I do love the song Mi Reflejo (Reflection). It's a terrific song in any language. Christina's voice is divine, but once again, I'd much rather hear her sing it in English because the words are powerful and I feel that she sings it with emotion, not just because she has a great voice and can sing Spanish lyrics.

Anyway, I'm not bashing Christina. I'm more than happy to give her credit - yes, girl, you can sing, but the whole idea of a Spanish album by her is kind of irksome. It also annoyed me to see all of the credits and linear notes in Spanish. Now we all know Christina didn't write that. She just had someone translate it for her. I just don't understand what the purpose of this album was. To prove that she wants to acknowledge her Spanish roots? So what your father is Ecuadorian? My mother is Panamanian...your point? If she wants to prove that she's not a pop princess, then come out with an album that proves otherwise but not a whole Spanish album, because it seems phony, and show-offy to me.
