- This album will not leave you.
I first heard the song, "Carry Me (Like a Fire in Your Heart)," in the closing scene to the final (or next to final) episode of 'Miami Vice' when it first aired. I knew it was Chris DeBurgh, but had never heard it before. The song captured perfectly the mood of Crockett's and Tubbs' loss of the dream of being able to make a difference in law enforcement. When I finally bought this CD, it stayed in my player for a week straight. The songs are powerful, and build to a stirring conclusion, reminiscent of his album, "The Getaway." A few songs, such as "Missing You," may require multiple listenings before they can be fully appreciated, because they lean towards Deburgh's sappy side. However, they lend a respite from the emotionally charged gems contained on the CD that will leave you speechless.

- fascinating
This is the album that made Chris well known especially in the states after his breakthrough he made with The Lady Ýn Red in "Into The Light". Unfortunatelly we didn't get a sufficant work from him so far after this album.
- Flying Colours
`Flying Colours' was De Burghs follow up to the mega successful album `Into the Light', as a result you get another terrible love ballad in `Missing You' which actually detracts from the superb song writing and rockier edge on offer in his work. From the powerful lyrics of `The Simple Truth' you can see De Burgh is still able to weave a story in his songs and the rocky `Don't Look back' shows he hasn't forgotten the feel of past work either. I love the album closers `The Risen Lord' and `The Last Time I cried' which blend into one to create a song that is initially haunting and beautiful and in turns evocative and poignant. De Burgh always was a strong songwriter and unfortunately the success of `Lady In Red' (not on this album) and `Missing You' became an albatross around his neck and consigned him to easy listening hell. My advice is ignore these tracks and get to the heart of what he initially had to offer, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
