- U.K. CHER MASTERPIECE RE-MIXED & DESECRATED

Cher went to England and recorded "It's A Man's World" which stands as one of the greatest albums of the DIVA'S brilliant career that should have become the International comeback that "Believe" ultimately became but a weird and unnecessary remix of the U.K. classic is believed to be the reason this project didn't create a much deserved comeback...many feel that for some strange reason Cher's brilliant moment was sabotaged and anyone who listens to the original U.K. release which is soulful and brilliant then puts on this bizarre one tone "U.S. Edition" will come to the same conclusion. All the guts is removed along with the great rhythm tracks which make the U.K. release a complete soul stirring masterpiece so get the U.K version and enjoy Cher in her finest hour at her absolute peak!!! Please release the ORIGINAL~Cher doesn't deserve having one of her finest recorded masterpieces desecrated!!!!!

- It's a Cher's World

It's a pity that this album being so good didn't have success. In the U.S debuted at #64 in the Hot 200 but dropped very fast. And in Europe called some attetion but it wasn't a hit.

This album has a different direction from all Cher albums. It's softer with strong letters but you won't find electric guitars as in many of her cd's or Cher screaming but it doesn't either go to boring.

The first single was "One by one" that apperead on the soundtrack of Cher's HBO movie "If walls could talk". The song climed some charts but it's not considered a hit.

That's the commercial information that I can give you about the album.

But from my point of view as a custumer I can say that's it's a very good album, Cher's performances are clean and excellent.

The best songs are: "One by one", "Not enought love in the world", "What about the moonlight" and "The same mistake".

For this production Cher made 2 covers. The first is Tina Turner's 1986 hit "Paradise is here" which is the song with more rhythm in the album. Actually Cher changed the style of the song. Tina's version was soft, a pure ballad. And Marc Cohn's "Walking in Memphis" which sounds very good.

You won't be sorry at all with this album.

- This is one CD that should not be overlooked!

With all the recent hype and popularity surrounding Cher's recent CD, "Believe", many people are becoming Cher fans. You may be familiar with the 60/70's Cher, and probably even listened to her during the late 80's, during whice she had such hits as "If I Could Turn Back Time" and "Jesse James". But, if you have a missing gap of about 8 years, you need to get "It's A Man's World". This is one album that is full of emotional and soulful songs. The songs range from the slow "The Gunman" to the ballad "I'm Blowing Away" to the choir embellished "Walking In Memphis". One of the bestsongs is "One By One". This is one album that is worth taking a listen to and is worth buying to have for your own personal collection. A 5 star CD.

- Buy the far superior British import

The folks at Warner Bros. here in the U.S. decided to doctor several of the original tracks on this, Cher's finest recording since 1975's Stars. In doing so, with cheesy synth beats, a beautifully produced and sung homage to male songwriters sounds cheap. By trying to bring the sound of It's a Man's World up to the minute, the geniuses involved forgot that the minute would pass before the CD was even released. The British import is the one to own. With three additional tracks, it's the whole album, with the original, and in all cases far superior, versions of five tracks.

- If you like Cher's It's A Man's World, check out The X-Files.

Yes, you read it correctly. The season 5 episode titled "The Post-Modern Prometheus" has a character with a Cher fixation. Cher's music is played throughout the episode, including her wonderful version of "Walking in Memphis" and the Spector-ish, if I might, "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore." Older material is also used as well as a Cher-prise at the end. It's one of The X-Files most poignant episodes and well worth your time...especially if you are a Cher fan.
