- Love the 80's? Great for a Cher fans!
OK, this maybe isn't groundbreaking work, but as a huge Cher fan, I love it. Fun to throw into the CD player as a little retro treat. Especially when you want some Cher that hasn't been played 100 times on the radio...trust me, this has not been played much on the radio. But it really is some pretty great music with a couple real standout tunes... Rudy and Do I Ever Cross Your Mind are my favorites. (Actually, Do I Ever Cross Your Mind probably makes it onto my Top 10 Cher list...and that is a tough list!) ;-)

- A HIDDEN treasure that will PARALYZE YOU !
This is one of CHER's best and most underrated projects.
The year 1982 was a time for BETTE DAVIS EYES on the pop charts.
At the time, most female vocalists with the exception of KIM CARNES, LAURA BRANNIGAN, SHEENA EASTON & JUICE NEWTON were being ignored by retail and the BILLBOARD CHARTS.
This CD is really worth purchasing.

- Surprisingly good!
Yes, it's an album from 1982, which is evidenced by the cover. But the packaging doesn't do the contents justice. This is one GOOD album!
It's solid, early-'80s rock light years ahead of what was being played on the radio at that time. Why this album wasn't a hit is beyond me. From the opening of the girl group-esque single "Rudy" to the synth-pop of the title track, this CD delivers Cher in fine vocal form...and performing each song perfectly. My only regret with buying this CD is that I didn't buy it sooner! I am not a hard-core Cher fan, but this CD tempts me to become one.

- One of Cher's sleeper albums
"I Paralyze" was a one-shot deal for Columbia Records in 1982. The album didn't sell and this was Cher's last album for five years. Released after her stint with Casablanca Records, where Cher had a career resurgence with the disco hit "Take Me Home" in 1979, this album combined the power pop influences heard in her "Prisoner" album with the slightly harder-rock edge from the "Black Rose" collaboration.
Charles Koppelman was the executive producer of this project; he also was involved in the "Take Me Home" recording. As strong as this program was, it failed to make a dent in the charts which is in some ways surprising, and then not so at all. This album was a victim of its timing. "I Paralyze" was released after the disco fad petered out and Cher had yet to prove herself as an actress. Around this time, she wasn't taken seriously at all as a singer or actress and was known more for tabloid copy. And what a loss for pop music. The album contains a great commercial single, "Rudy" (co-written with Jacques Morali and Henri Belolo, the brains behind the Village People) which is as good as any of Cher's smash hit records. "Games" and "I Paralyze" are strong commercial contenders, as is "Back on the Street Again" (co-written by John Waite).
There were five Cher albums that were commercial flops which contain some of her best work. The first was "Backstage" (1968), Cher's final album for Imperial Records. The second was her subsequent 1969 Atco release "3614 Jackson Highway." Third was "Stars," her 1975 Warner Brothers debut (and her most dramatic make-over artistically). Fourth was this album and fifth was the 1996 sleeper "It's A Man's World," which showed, more than any of these other albums, her versatility as a singer.
