Cher Album: “Live: The Farewell Tour [Limited]”
Description :
This edition of LIVE: THE FAREWELL TOUR is limited to 200,000 copies.
Personnel: Cher (vocals); David Barry (guitar, background vocals); Paul Mirkovich, Ollie Marland (keyboards, background vocals); Bill Sharp (bass, background vocals); Mark Schulman (drums); Stacy Campbell, Patti Darcy Jones (background vocals).
Recorded live in Miami, Florida on November 8, 2002.
While it's hard to buy the sincerity of a farewell from an artist like Cher, an performer with more lives than a roomful of cats, it's impossible to question the significance of the live element in Cher's career. From the beginning, she was a staple in households across America on the top-rated SONNY & CHER SHOW, and throughout her showbiz life she has displayed an affinity for the cameras, from TV appearances and guest spots to an Oscar-winning movie career.
LIVE - THE FAREWELL TOUR is the audio part of a popular 2002 NBC special that helped fuel the thousandth or so resurgence of Cher's storied musical life. Opening with a roaring, danceable version of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For," she launches into hits from every portion of her career, from her first hit in 1965, "All I Really Want To Do," to her "Believe"-era dance hits. LIVE reveals a Cher distinctly in her element, playfully teasing and interacting with her crowd, clearly enjoying the songs as she sings them. Though it's yet to be seen whether it's truly farewell, this live performance will certainly satisfy most Cher fans.

- A Lovely Release from Cher! Go Girl! Go Girl! Go Girl!

This limited edition CD is fantastic--and this comes from a Cher fan who is a 30-year-old male that is NOT a drag queen! (Or maybe I'm just one in denial, I don't know.) For those of you who don't like hearing Cher run through her classics, well, don't buy it. I assume everyone here is literate, so just look at the song list first; see if it is something that you might like. If you like her live material, this CD is for you!

The great thing about this CD is that it is a perfectly recorded live concert from a single night--not some hybrid recording from various live shows--and, with its wonderful sound, it will bring back some great memories of her farewell tour if you had a chance to see it. I would love to see her release other limited edition CDs of shows from the tour, just like Pearl Jam does with their shows. Even though her setlists seldom change from night to night, Cher's performance is always unique and exciting.

If you are a fanatic like I am and love hearing her stretch out a syllable on "Strong Enough" a little differently on this night than on other live or studio versions, you will love this limited edition CD. Just add it to the collection--it will treat you well. I listen to it all the time, along with her other recent releases. In fact, if you're lucky, this CD may lead you to a greater mystical-vibrational appreciation of Bob Mackie gowns, `60s and `70s Barbie clothes, dune buggies, Scooby Doo (did I write that?), and, of course, Cher herself. She is an institution. I'd like to write more, but I'm working on trying to get my sparkly wig to fit correctly--just how does Cher do that?

- Cher Live, at last and finally!

Finally at the zenith of her career,Cher has put together a musically tuned show that has been mastered sonically to appeal to the ear. Not only is it vocally adept, but the feeling of the concert is as dimensional as her very well sung hits. It is amazing that at her mature age her voice is better live than it has ever been. Great anthems like :Song for the lonely", and "Believe" have the audience enthralled. Cher performs songs from 1965(All I really want to do", to her current hits off "Believe", and "Living Proof" cds. This cd is a must for entertainment lovers, and of course those that are in awe of this diva at the top of her powers. Personal and humorous this diva dares the new generation of girl performers to follow her.."fat chance" to them, this is a legendary woman.Let's hope we are yet to see her do standards at Carnegie Hall!

- A Cherised Live Experience

Finally! A Live CD from Cher. This is a must have for all Cher fans! Feautures the complete songlist from her Farewell Tour.

So wonderful. Great hearing the live performances and new arrangements of Cher's hits from the 60's and 70's, All I Really Want To Do, The Way Of Love, Half Breed, Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves and Dark Lady.

It begins with Cher's cover of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" which is ~awesome~.

One constructive comment/criticism: this Live CD ~does not~ have the Concert Intro which was a great mix of "Different Kind Of Love Song" and "If I Could Turn Back Time".

This mix was ~Awesome~. At the concert it was played as an intro/begining to the show during a video and photo segment of Cher's 40 year career. I enjoyed it immensly and it set the "mood" so to speak for a FABULOUS show.

In my opinion, would have done the same for this LIVE CD. It's a shame and dissapointment it wasn't included. The logic in excluding it escapes me. There was definately room for it on this CD with a total time of 67:36.

All in all, still a good CD. A definate must have for any Cher fan. Enjoy :)

I've bought her DVD of The Farewell Tour and I wanted this cd because I loved the show. What a voice, it's unbelieveable. Her voice is so powerful and beautiful. I like the talking between some of the songs. She really connects with the crowd. I love it.

1. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For: a great opening of the show. This songs is much better than the version of U2. Her voice is pure power. 10/10

2. Song For The Lonely: a great song and again a powerful voice. 9.5/10

3. All Or Nothing: one of my favorite songs, it's simple and catchy. 11/10

4. I Found Someone: cher sings this song so good that you'll love it 9/10

5. Bang Bang: a very strong song. 9/10

6. All I Really Want To Do: this is the best version of this song. 9.5/10

8. Gypsies, Tramps And Thieves: this is such a good song and live it's even better 9.5/10

9. Dark Lady: just love it 9.5/10

10. Take Me Home: I love this song so much, this version is so disco that you just can't sit down 11/10

11. The Way Of Love: such a beautiful ballad 10/10

12. After All: in the beginning I didn't liked this song, but after a while I loved it 9/10

13. Jessy James: so powerful 10/10

14. Heart Of Stone: what can I say about this song? It's so great 11/10

15. Shoop Shoop Song: it's a good song, not my favorite but the live version is good 8.5/10

16. Strong Enough: love it love it love it 11/10

17. If I Could Turn Back Time: this song is so strong. I really love this song 11/10

18. Believe: this is such a great song, I just love cher 11/10

If you like cher you must go and buy this cd. It's a must have. Even if you're not a cher fan, this is THE best live cd ever. She's a diva, there's no doubt!!

I would give this cd 6 stars but it's impossible.

- Great CD for serious and casual Cher fans

This is not only a fine concert CD, but it's also a good retrospective of Cher's music career. You get the classics ("Dark Lady", "Half-Breed"), the '80s rock ("I Found Someone") and the '90s dance comeback ("Believe", "Strong Enough") plus some forgotten classics ("Heart of Stone") making this almost an essential Cher CD.

Cher's voice sounds great, and all the songs are worth listening straight through.
