- UnBELIEVEable!!!

Before Believe, Cher racked up a pretty impressive list of hit records, almost all of which are included on this collection. Essentially, this is the same collection as the American "If I Could Turn Back Time: Cher's Greatest Hits," with a few notable exceptions. The true highlights of this collection are the previously unreleased "Oh No Not My Baby," written by Carole King, and the Dianne Warren penned "Whenever You're Near." Also available here are "Many Rivers To Cross," from Extravaganza and "Dead Ringer For Love" with Meat Loaf. The previous song being tender and emotional, the latter just plain rock'n'roll fun. Between the two choices, I prefer this European release because it offers more that you probably haven't heard before. The only things missing are "After All," and "Take Me Home" (Not a great loss)

- This is a condensed overview of Chers' career

This European release of Chers' Greatest Hits is fairly good, but the range is so diverse that it seems that 2 discs were in order. The singing is good and the productions varied. Two unreleased songs from the studio and an additional concert piece, "Many Rivers to Cross",try to bring things up to date. The best tracks are hard to pinpoint as they are all generally good. My fave is "Save Up All Your Tears". Too bad the origional Sonny Bono "Bang Bang", and her 1st Imperial hit "All I Really Want to Do", have been ignored. Not to mention her "Take Me Home" number from 79'. It's a good compilation, but too abbreviated for an artist who has been with us for so long.America, where is your release on this? I hear its' due in Oct. 98...Her last cd had a number of tracks superior to these new ones here, including"It's A Mans' World".

- Cher:- Cher's Greatest Hits 1965-1992

This is definately my fave Greatest Hits collection that Cher has put out!! It only bags up 13 of her hits from 1965-1992, and includes 3 new tracks, but there's 4 songs that are really hard to find anywhere else! 3 of them are most noticably the new tracks: "Oh No Not My Baby" (Carole King cover), "Whenever You're Near" and "Many Rivers To Cross" (Live at the Mirage) (Jimmy Cliff cover). The other one is the duet with Meat Loaf, "Dead Ringer For Love". This song is not available on any other Cher CD! These 4 songs are all brill, but the 12 other hits are also a keeper if you're a real Cher fan!

OH NO NOT MY BABY

Awesome track. Cher's version of the Carole King classic really comes to life on this CD!

WHENEVER YOU'RE NEAR

This song is really cool. The new tracks just get better and better!

MANY RIVERS TO CROSS (LIVE AT THE MIRAGE)

This version of Many Rivers To Cross sung live, is one of the best cuts I've ever heard. Cher's vocals are amazing!

LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING

From her album Love Hurts. This song is above average, but it's not of my faves!

SAVE UP ALL YOUR TEARS

From her album Love Hurts. This song is absolutely brilliant, and im my opinion, better than LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING!

THE SHOOP SHOOP SONG (IT'S IN HIS KISS)

From her album Love Hurts, from the film Mermaids. This song is a classic, and it was #1 for Cher in the UK, where this album was released! Great!

IF I COULD TURN BACK TIME

From her album Heart Of Stone. This is my second fave on the disc, it's such an excellent effort from the diva!

JUST LIKE JESSE JAMES

From her album Heart Of Stone. This country/western effort is awesome, and one of Cher's best singles.

HEART OF STONE

From her album Heart Of Stone. This song was originally recorded by Bucks Fizz, but Cher's version is, most-likely, better!

I FOUND SOMEONE

From her album Cher. This is were Cher's rock talents all kicked off. My third fave on the whole album.

WE ALL SLEEP ALONE

From her album Cher. Bloody fantastic! This is my fave Cher single EVER! I think it's a bit under-rated, and certainly deserved more than it achieved. Despite being so under-rated, it became a fan favourite with everyone! At the end of the day, I could listen to this song for ages and never get bored of it. It makes me want to listen to the song right now. Oh, I can, I have this album! Ha-ha!

BANG-BANG

From her album Cher. There are 2 versions of Bang-Bang available. The one on here is the rock/metal version from 1987, which is better than the average original. The original was recorded in 1966.

DEAD RINGER FOR LOVE (WITH MEAT LOAF)

This became a big hit in the UK! The song is excellent, and the video is equally fantastic! The song hit the top 5 in the UK. This is the only album where you can find this song!

DARK LADY

From the album Gypsies, Tramps And Thieves. The song is brilliant, and it was a US #1 for Cher! Definately a high-light, and the most mysterious song on the album!

GYPSIES, TRAMPS AND THIEVES

From the album Gypsies, Tramps And Thieves. Another brilliant song, need I say more???

I GOT YOU BABE (SONNY & CHER)

From the album Look At Us. This is definately Sonny & Cher's best effort along with Baby Don't Go! I love it!

Overall, a few songs on the compilation are missed (LOVE HURTS, THE BEAT GOES ON, ETC...), but I still recommend it to all the Cher fans for the awesome new tracks. If you want a collection of Cher's hits from her Geffen years, then here it is! BUY IT!!!!!!!

- MISTRESS OF MANY STYLES

Cher is a true survivor, a pop singer in the broadest sense of the term who has embraced many styles to consistently remain relevant through more than four decades. This album compiles her greatest hits of the 60s, 70s and 80s up to 1991's Shoop Shoop Song. It includes her hit duet with Sonny, I Got You Babe, a 60s pop classic that has been much covered by other artists, plus her power rock duet with Meat Loaf from his Dead Ringer album. There's also Dark Lady from 1974, the brilliant Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves from 1971 and a rousing live version of Many Rivers To Cross. Cher's success is due to her wise selection of material and her strong distinctive voice. If you love tuneful pop, you cannot go wrong with this enjoyable hits collection.
