ATADO A TU AMOR was nominated for a 1999 Grammy for Best Latin Pop Performance.
<p>1998 was a very interesting year for Puerto Rican star Chayanne. Besides recording ATADO A TU AMOR, he appeared in the film DANCE WITH ME with Vanessa Williams, a Hollywood venture into the world of salsa. The movie itself tanked at the box office, but Chayanne emerged unscathed from the experience, an accomplished actor, virtuoso dancer, and likable singer.
<p>ATADO A TU AMOR is a more quiet effort than previous Chayanne records, and it includes "Refugio de Amor," the Spanish version of "You Are My Home," his duet with Vanessa Williams from DANCE WITH ME. Elsewhere, the singer looks for inspiration outside of Puerto Rico. "La Playa" is a melancholy version of the popular French ballad "La Plage," while "Enamorado" is a composition by Carlinhos Brown, one of the most original songwriting voices to come out of Brazil in the '90s.

- Atado A Tu Amor
This album is fantansic! Every song is great! It is unususal for me to like every song on an album - but this one is the exception. The instrumental arrangements of the ballads are exquisite. Chayanne has a way of emoting in these songs that just sends me to another place for awhile. I literally can listen to this CD over and over and not tire of it. It has the right mix of slow and fast tempo songs. Ricky Martin can't hold a candle to him. A class act all the way. 6 of 7 people found the following review helpful:
- Spicy, romantic Caribbean delight!
Chayanne scores BIG with the sexy ballad "Otra Vez" and the romantic Caribbean sound of "La Playa". He shows his playful side on "Mira Ven Ven" and "Enamorado". He teams up beautifully with Vanessa Williams on the hit song from his new movie (Dance With Me) on "Refugio de Amor". All in all, a spicy and delicious gumbo-type concoction - Chayanne style! Great stuff! My sister insisted I listened to Chayanne while I was in Spain on holidays. From the very beginning I was hooked! The way he sings makes me dream of sandy beaches and palm trees.I like Ricky Martin but I agree with other reviews, he can't hold a candle to Chayanne! Customer review - October 19, 1999

- Phenomenal foot tapping and emotion filled album!!
I bought this CD after travelling abroad in Spain and hearing "Salome" in every dance club I went to. Spaniards and Americans came out of the wood-work to dance every time this song came on. Even though I've been back in the country for 3 months, I still love it and can't listen to it without dancing around my room! - Chayanne is "Fantastico"
I bought this cd on a whim, curious as to what Chayanne sounded like after seeing a concert review on vacation. I must say I was surprised. Even though I don't speak Spanish, it doesn't matter with Chayanne. There's something about his voice that is very moving. His songs are so heartfelt I could listen to him all day and not get tired of listening. Every song on this cd is awesome, and I now have all but one of his cds. |
