The reigning princess of mainstream, candy-coated dance pop released this remix album in 2005 to surprisingly little fanfare. As a high-profile darling of the publicity machine, Spears rarely slips one in under the radar, but there are several reasons for this. One reason is that Spears was on maternity leave at the time of the album's release, making it something of an obligatory stopgap until the artist's next new effort; another is that it contains versions of songs already released on her GREATEST HITS album.
<p>Yet B IN THE MIX: THE REMIXES is full of brash, tantalizing, and occasionally brilliant energy. In addition to one new song (the dreamy "And Then We Kiss"), there are some fine reworkings of the pop idol's biggest hits by reputable guest DJs. Peter Rauhofer's pulsing, electro take on "Toxic," for example, is particularly appealing, as is Justice's stomping remix of "Me Against the Music" (which features Madonna), and Jacques Lu Cont's eerie, erotic "Thin White Duke Mix" of "Breathe on Me." These sophisticated electronica interpretations take some of the sugar off the original versions, leaving them leaner, heavier, and more mesmerizing, better suited to the dance club than MTV.

Everyone on the planet pretty much knows that Britney Spears recently had a baby but you may not know that Britney has a new CD in stores now. "Britney Spears B In The Mix The Remixes" is now available in stores. The set includes remixes of Britney's biggest hits and includes a new song titled "And Then We Kissed."
The CD opens up with a hard hitting club throbbing rendition of Britney's 2003 hit single "Toxic." "Toxic" is followed up by the Justice remix of "Me Against The Music." This is a decent remix but rather boring when it comes to a remix. It's not as danceable as some of the other remixes. "Me Against The World" is followed up by remixes for the album tracks "Touch of My Hand," and "Breath on Me."
The new song, "And Then We Kiss," is a real nice club sounding song. It would have been cool if Britney had recorded a video for this song. It might have brought more attention to this remix project.
It would have been nice if there were remixes of more well known tunes such as "Outrageous," "Stronger," or "Boys," rather than the remixes for the lesser known album tracks "Touch of My Hand" and "Breathe on Me."
"B In The Mix" includes no special booklet, no new pictures and no written introduction or new liner notes from Britney. It would make a nice gift for a Britney Spears fan or a person who enjoys club remixes.

what can i say? this album is awesome! not only does it contain SEVEN previously unreleased remixes, it also contains a brand new song - AND THEN WE KISS! this is a full-length remix album and is simply the best. since going on "hiatus" brit has been quite generous. the bonus audio cds of the in the zone and chaotic dvds, the THREE previously unreleased songs on her greatest hits, AND NOW THIS DISC!!!!! This is the only place you're going to get a near 7 minute Peter Rauhofer mix of Toxic, plus you get 8 minutes of the hex hector mix of Don't Let me Be the Last to Know, plus edits of a couple of other unreleased mixes. Track times:

I'm a Britney Spears fan. I think she has great songs and she's pretty easy on the eyes, to say the least. But this remix album didn't appeal to me as much as previous compilation discs such as her Greatest Hits mainly because they were all songs I'd heard before and they were remade (I already had the Greatest Hits CD so I didn't need another compilation album of some of her biggest singles). Boy, was I suprised when I happened to hear the record, yo!! "Everytime" is played around with and it sounds great, especially the bridge when the "And this song is my sorry" is played on an off beat. Freakin' sweet! I've not always been a Britney Spears fan... in fact I really only like her music from In The Zone and up. I must say that I think her music is really shaping into something good. This remix album further compliments her growing into a talented artist. I won't give a play by play, there are plenty of those already but I will say that this album will not disappoint those who enjoy Britney and good dance music. It is top notch. I can't quite understand why the record label did not promote this album. I did not hear of it until I needed to redownload the album from Rhapsody and saw this album at the top. It amazes me because even if the album sucked (which it doesn't) it would still sell millions just because of the Britney name... baffling. |
