Disco de Britney Spears: “Sometimes [Australia CD]”

After the instant and huge success of her debut single Baby One More Time, Britney Spears returned in June 1999 with her second single called Sometimes. The second song to be taken from her debut album Baby One More Time, Sometimes peaked at No.3 in the UK charts and was a massive No.1 all over Europe. For me this is the song that always reminds me of summer 1999 - the years of my hormonal changes when I believed I was actually in love with the girl! The way Britney handles the song is just perfect and the beats and lyrics are so relaxing and sleepy.

Sometimes begins with a brilliant tingly bassline, before going rather low and quiet as Britney sings the verses. It goes up again as Britney sings the classic chorus; everyone knows those lyrics, "Sometimes I run/sometimes I hide/sometimes I'm scared of you....but all I really want is to hold you tight/treat you right/baby, all I need is time." Britney has always been a rather controversial artist - the Baby One More Time caused a lot. The video to Sometimes, however, created more speculation than controversy... Anyway, the video was a worthy successor to Baby One More Time and the song in itself was equal to that statement. I'm a Britney Spears fan, but I'm not too fond of this single. "Sometimes" is a decent song, but the remix is too cutesy for my taste. I did like "I'm So Curious" but I don't think it's worth buying the cd just for that track. If you like "Sometimes" look for the Thunderpuss remix, it is a hundred times better.

Britney Spears is a great singer for her age. It'd be awesome to see her in concert. I'd love to be able to sing like her, this song is a lot more mature than "Baby" from her. I love it!

This is a very good song!!!!!!!! A guy wrote me saying it was almost as bad as Nsync or Backstreet boys but he is wrong. She is the best artist around.

Britney shows that young people are capable of big things. The song "Sometimes" is somewhere a lot of girls AND women find themselves at least once in life. I'm there now. I have loved the song since it debuted and it gets better with each play. I think it's her best thus far. This only shows that Britney will only get better with each release. Keep up the great work!!!
