"Piece of Me", the second single from Britney Spears' new album Blackout, follows "Gimme More" and is just as good, if not better than its counterpart.
The single, which details Spears' opinion of people's - and the paparazzi's - obsession with her and her life, is catchy and exciting, with an infectious chorus and snappy verses. The song is tinged with retro electronic beats and is a great dancefloor song.
One of the best singles from Blackout and one of the best singles of 2007, "Piece of Me" proves that Spears is back professionally, even if her personal life is still turbulent. This song shows Spears at her best, cheeky, mocking and loving her work.

First there was Gimme More and now Spears unleashes her second single off her brilliant new album Blackout. Piece of Me is not only a catchy retro pop smash, but it is so good Spears should have used to kick-start her comeback instead of More. She's been the American dream since she was 17/No matter if she steps on the scene or sneaks away to the Phillippines/They still gon' take pictures of her deveirre in the magazine/ Piece of Me is a worthy second single that should have been her VMA opener. Hey, maybe these lyrics would have given her more energy. 10/10 |
