- Sooner or Later

The first time I saw these guys they were on MTV, and I have to admit I fell in love with their good looks. (Christian is a hottie) But when I heard their first single, Back Here, I was like they can really sing, not to mention play their own guitars. Their harmonies are beautiful. I found a remake of the song More Than Words that they did for their Asian album and I loved that too so I went out and bought the album, something I don't usually do. All the songs are good. I was surprised because every cd has its bad songs, but this one honestly doesn't. My favorite songs are I'm Not In Love, Unpredictable, and Still On Your Side, but it's even hard to narrow it down to just those three. A lot of people haven't really heard of them, and they don't know what they're missing. Sooner or Later the other boy bands will realize they have some strong competition from BBMak.

- A welcomed difference from Bubble Gum Pop

It's not that I don't like *NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys, but after a while, their songs all begin to sound the same. They are all synthesizer-infused, studio created melodies, with seemingly no feeling behind them. That is where BBMak is different. Though they are good looking men, they are also something that the guys from those other groups are not---musicians. Every track, from the first US released single "Back Here" to when the last strum of the guitar on "Again", is a great song, different from the tracks on, let's say, "No Strings Attached". These guys also have great voices to go along with the melody-rich songs they present on "Sooner Or Later". Another personal favorite track of mine is "I Can Tell", a song written by the same guy who did "Give It To You" by Jordan Knight. Although that song was not that great, he has redeemed himself on this track, a sweet and all around GOOD song. "I'm Not In Love" is another good song, a happy sounding song that you'll want to blast when you hear it. Ste, Christian, and Mark all sound like men instead of screaming little Hanson brothers. Sorry Hanson fans! Perhaps the best part of all is that BBMak doesn't try to be who they're not. They can write, they can sing, and their not afraid to show it. This is a great CD and it will have you hooked from the first moment you pop it in the CD player.

- Yeah, yeah, yeah, they DO play their own guitars, but.......

Say hello to BBMAK, britain's answer to boybands who don't know the difference between a b-note and a baby carrot. They play their instruments, sing etc.....Well, that's all wonderful. BUT, I have to say, with a few listens, trying to get my ears to dissect the music, there's one problem. Basically, every song has the same notes, over and over! I think it's great they know how to play the guitar, but it seems like they only know a few strings. The first single, the undoubtedly catchy "Back Here," is perfect pop. I mean, it's to BBMAK what "As Long As You Love Me" was to the Backstreet Dudes, what "I Want You Back" was to the Nsync-sters, what.......you get the picture. It's the hit for which they truly broke-through. Sure, "Back Here" isn't #1in Billboard, and it's not in the Top 5 on TRL everyday, but it's what you bought the album for, isn't it? Great Song. Other notables include:

I'm Not In Love: The probable second single, this one'll pick-up where "Back Here" left off. Right to your brain, drilling a small canal just large enough for it to be stuck there for 2 weeks.

Next Time: Ahhhhh, hooks and bridges, Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Unpredictable: People, LOVE IS UNPREDICTABLE! Proclaims track 4. Good harmonizing on this one.

Ghost Of You And Me: Christian, Mark, and Ste reach lyrical and emotional depths Justin and JC could only dream of. One of the best on the album, no doubt.

Love is Leaving: One of the best tracks, it's just delievered beautifully.

Still on your Side: The first words brings you in, and it never lets you go.

The whole album is quite good. No need for the skip button at all, it's a very well produced album. Ultimately, BBMAk has the workings of a great band, but their second single, whatever it is, has to be as successful, or more successful, than "Back Here." This is just another example of what pop music consists of: Brit's popsters are more talented and more unique, and America's teenyboppers are prettier/finer.

- A GREAT DEBUT ALBUM

This album has a really good compilation of songs, that anyone can relate to. From the uptempo like "BACK HERE" and I'M NOT IN LOVE to Mid Tempo like GHOST OF YOU AND ME and UNPREDICTABLE. This album truly proves that BBMAK has something in them. This album also proves that they've got talents, because they don't only play their own instruments but they also write most of the song in this album. It also proves that they're not just a bunch of pretty faces without talents. Not like some other groups out there who claimed that they've got talents when all in all they don't have any. If you like music that are more up or mid tempo or love song or even dance song then I would reall, really recommend this album but if you're not into this type of music then I suggest don't buy it, BUT TRY TO LISTEN TO IT ANYWAY maybe you'll find it good. Because I surely did.

- Brilliant!

A good solid Cd. What I love about this band is that they wrote their own stuff, and could play it...AND sing it! They also had a unique way of trading verses; One guy would get the first, the next guy the second and so on, then all would sing the chorus. I also really liked that they all had voices that blend well; close enough to harmonize perfect, sounding almost like one person. But just slightly different tones and octaves, so that each verse had "their" own sound to it.

Of course personally I think that Christian Burns had the best voice and could have easily been on his own. But still...all together, they sound great!

The whole album is good, and I can listen to the whole thing non stop, but my fave is "Ghost Of You And Me" there is a catchy, haunting sound to the singing.

So in the end; Good album I'd recommend to anyone. And as the Brits say "Brilliant!"
