- LOBSTER-ROCKIN' GREATEST HITS!

the b-52's, as far as i can remember, was the original funk rock and new wave band in the early 80's. hit after hit, and even thos enot commercially released, were great tracks: rock lobster, planet claire, party out of bounds, private idaho, song for a future generation, give me back my man, strobe light, etc.

this was an early compilation. love shack, summer of love and roam were not yet existing during that time. however, this compilation maybe the definite one as it includes all the full versions (long album mixes) of rock lobster, private idaho, planet claire.

buy this album with party mix for all the b-52's you need.

rock lobster!

- step wisely

Regardless of whether you think the B-52s are excellent ( if you're reading this, you obviously know they are), this is a great collection of their early stuff. I'd tell you more, but my stereo doesn't automatically repeat, and I have to go and do it manually, because I just can't get enough of this album. If it was a record, it would have, PLAY LOUD on the label, this is a must.

- probably the best 'best of'

This comp features the best tracks from the 52s first 2 albums, as well as single excerpts from "Whammy!" and "Bouncing Off the Satellites". As such it's not definitive, but it's the best compilation of the band's early high energy releases. If you're a casual fan this is probably your best buy - "Cosmic Thing" would probably round out your collection (and their history) nicely.
