Disco de Amber: “Above the Clouds [CD/Vinyl Single]”

If you've ever listened to Amber, you need this cd single. It contains 8 mixes(album version, 3 radio remixes, two club-style mixes, a velvet mix, and a dub version). This song is one of the best off her self-titled cd(Object of Your Desire--my favorite and hopefully will be a single) and roars in the remixes. I'm not a huge dub mix fan since they tend to be repetitive, but the Sal Dano and Brian K's Hard Dub(track 8) is the best dub mix I've ever heard. It builds and builds throughout using a sample of the chorus "I Can See" to float through connecting the song. It has synthesizer licks that remind me of Rollo's remix of "Insomnia" by Faithless. It goes back and forth between orchestral-style parts to flat-out dance synthesizer sections. A must-buy just for this remix alone. Also get her full length cd, you won't be disappointed.

Everyone better listen up to this one. I got it 3 weeks ago on vinyl when it came out and the J Peters remix is hot. It is already #12 on the dance charts and isn't even out on cd single yet. Give this song 6 weeks and I guarantee it will be as big as Whitney. Just give it a few weeks. And when it comes out on single, don't miss it.

After releasing such mega dance hits as "This Is Your Night", "One More Night", "If You Could Read My Mind" (From the "54" soundtrack), and "Sexual", she returns with another infectious dance hit, "Above The Clouds". "Above The Clouds" is about a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship that has experienced and endured pain and doubts along the way. Amber sings about the "arguments", "heartaches", "tears" and "pain" in this relationship. She sings about them doubting whether this relationship would last and whether it was worth it to enter the relationship in the first place. The answer is a resounding "yes"! Since they stuck together through it all and continued to love each other, the "storm" has finally ended. And now, the couple is "flying above the clouds" and they can see "happiness" and clarity from up there. Ahhh, the power of love.

Amber colors the song with vocals that oscillate between tenderness and power throughout the song. She really knows how to use her voice to express feelings such as sadness (in describing the troubled relationship), and feelings such as happiness and elation (when the relationship survives). The Original Mix (Track #1) borrows the same rhythmic beat from the remix to Deborah Cox's "Things Just Ain't The Same". Jonathan Peters' contributions to this cd single (Tracks #2, 5, & 7) are probably the best remixes on this cd single with Track #2 being the best one. Track #5 is an extended version of Track #2 while Track #7 is a fast and furious house music version of this song. Sal Dano and Brian K's Hard Dub (Track #8) deserves mention too as they combine electronic beats and string-like arrangements in their instrumental remix. Together, tracks #2, 5, 7, and 8 will definitely get you dancing on the floor.

This has to be the all time best club anthem song!

But the Thunderpuss remix is the best one to dance to.

This is the best song on her new albm, which I recomend everyone buying! This song is beautiful and makes you shake it on the dance floor, or whereeer you are! BUY IT NOW!
