Alexia Album: “WDAS FM Classic Soul Hits”

This is an extremely enjoyable and thoughtful mellow soul compilation. Leading off with the ultra-rare "This Must Be Heaven" by Brainstorm and finishing with Gladys Knight's powerful "Try To Remember/The Way We Were", this is a set that's sure to please. Don't look for any track/artist/chart information here; the music is your only reward. Besides, if you wanna read, buy a book. I also enjoyed the under-appreciated O'Jays ballad "Your Body's Here With Me, But Your Mind's on the Other Side of Town", Enchantment's sublime "Silly Love Song", and LTD(with Jeffrey Osborne)'s triumphant "We Both Deserve Each Other's Love". Sure, there are some tracks which have surfaced on more than a fair share of R&B ballad compilations (Fire and Desire, You Are My Starship, Kiss And Say Goodbye, and After The Love Has Gone, come to mind). But any comp that contains the Isley Brothers' cover of Todd Rundgren's "Hello It's Me" is hard to find fault with. The only issue would be how many tracks in this collection you already own. For me, the Brainstorm cut is worth the price alone. Don't sleep on this one.

This cd has some of my favorite all-time songs on it. I play it all the time and I never get tired of listening to it.

Over the years, Philly radio station, WDAS FM has compiled and released some great old school CD's. They seem to have a knack for picking the perfect songs for continuity and listening pleasure.
