Aleks Syntek Album: “Mundo Lite”

Aleks Syntek Album: “Mundo Lite”
Description :
In this re-release of Aleks Syntek's 2004 opus, the Mexican musician performs a variety of duets with artists including the Colombian singer Soraya and Ana Torroja of the Spanish pop combo Mecano, in a set that mixes the anthemic uptempo pop of "Tiempos De Paz," the beautiful ballad "Te Sone," and a vintage-sounding techno version of "Duele El Amor" that displays his dance club roots.

- Unmatched in today's Hispanic pop rock scene

Sometimes it doesn't matter too much what language someone sings in. This is the case of Aleks Syntek, a musical genius and an artist at the crest of the wave of Mexican pop rock artists of the past decade or so. He sings in Spanish, but his catchy tunes and human lyrics will not go unnoticed regardless of what language you speak.

I first heard of him back in 2000, when I listened to his classic song "El Camino", shortly after he successfully scored the Mexican movie "Sexo, Pudor y Lagrimas". Then, in 2004, I stumbled upon a song from this album where he sings alongside Ana Torroja, the former singer from the super-pop band from Spain, Mecano. It totally got me!

The only song I would remove from this album would be the techno version of "Duele El Amor", but other than this track, I found the entire album to be a solid production from end to end. Aleks is on par with the talent of artists like Diego Torres and Juanes, bringing in a unique touch of beats that are typical of the eighties acts (Kraftwerk, Howard Jones, etc.) that have much influenced his work over the years.

Quite frankly, comparing his current work with the spectrum of pop rock artists in the Hispanic scene today, it's hard to find a match. Aleks Syntek stands out in a way that's hard not to notice.

- One of the best musicians in Latin America

This album is really mesmerizing. The music here is totally amazing, with a great sound athmosphere. Well balanced vocals, nice and well-chosen duets, gorgeous melodies... What else can you ask for?

For you who don't speak Spanish, I suggest to take a Spanish-speaking friend with you while you listen to the album, so you can understand the lyrics, but once you have the idea, you'll know the messages in Aleks' songs are powerful and heartfelt. I suggest you to listen to his other albums, since his music is timeless. Every song in his albums is good, but in this album, his music goes better.

A brief guide about the titles and their translation follows:

1. Tiempos de Paz (Peaceful Times)

2. Duele el Amor (Love Hurts -nothing to do with the Nazareth's song!-/Duet with Ana Torroja)

3. Arriesgando el Corazón (Gambling my Heart)

4. Te Soñé (I Dreamed of You)

5. Alguno de Estos Días (One of These Days)

6. Salva Mi Corazón (Save My Heart/Duet with Soraya)

7. A Veces Fui (Sometimes I Was)

8. Viviendo Por Ti (Living For You/Duet with Benny Ibarra)

9. Lo Que Tú Me Das (What You Give To Me)

10. Hombre de Fe (Man of Faith)

11. Duele el Amor [Versión Techno] (Love Hurts [Techno Version]/Duet with Ana Torroja)

12. Te Soñé [Versión Clásica] (I Dreamed of You [Classical Version])

- Viva la Aleks Syntek!

When I compile a list of my all-time favorite songs, El Maestro, Aleks Syntek reigns supreme with the most tracks.

Mundo Lite is one of those rare CD's outside of greatest hits collections that you can listen to the entire thing without wanting to skip around to find a decent song.

Do not let a lack of Spanish proficiency halt you in purchasing this amazing CD. Believe me when I say his music transcends the language barrier. My absolute favorite on the CD is Aveces Fui.
