Disco de Alcazar: “Crying at the Discotheque [German CD]”

"Crying" is the huge disco hit that is storming across Europe at the moment. Alcazar are the latest pop sensation from Sweden "starring" gorgeous local gay hero + mega-hunk Andreas Lundstedt and bombshell babes Annikafiore and Tess. Totally camp and over the top (think Abba meet Army of Lovers) this infectious slice of pop trash is so tongue in cheek and so much fun that it is too irresistible to ignore! Pure disco over a borrowed loop from an old Chic hit. Andreas sings the verses -spinning the tale of disco: "downtown's been caught by hysteria/ people scream and shout" and the girls work the catchy chorus lines: "the golden years, the silver tears/ you are a tie like Richard gere/ I wanna get down/ you spin me around/ I stand on the borderline crying at the discotheque". This has what is takes to be a huge international hit and is supported here by a couple of high profile, though overall disappointing, remixes. The Illicit Remix filters the disco over chunky house beats and dark synth bass lines. Mind Trap work a deeper, darker Disco Dub with snatches of vocal replayed over heavy industrial beats and trance-like action. Fine enough but the original version is the best. Taken from the forthcoming album project "Casino" -and believe me, there's a lot more to come! NB: The promo video for the track is a total camp fest with Andreas dressed in tight silver hot pants, a silver tunic, goggles and a silver helmet!

Alcazar is fab from track 1 to track 16 - yes there IS a hidden track on the full CD entitled; Alcazar-Casino.

Anyone who reads the liner notes will realize that Alcazar IS the Army Of Lovers sans the lovers... Alexander Bard (wispy-voiced, bleach-blonde lead singer for ArmyOfLovers) writes most every song on the album and the music is classic Army grooves with a retro-60's funk taste. It's KC and the Sunshine Band meets the Army Of Lovers!

It's a slick slick fun dance album!

Every song/single I've heard is as incredible as this single!! ANY fan of the Army definitely NEEDS to add Alcazar to their collection!

Too bad only the singles are available in the US... But, alas all the GOOD dance music is in Europe, not the US... So, for our European friends, go buy the full CD and get your groove on! It's worth WHATEVER price you pay for it!!

They are amazing, I fell in love with this awsome song while studying in Europe, truly a great song and their album is great.
